Hey guys. I saw all the comic packs today at walmart, both waves. My brother and I picked up the Torch and Ripper pack....but we were shocked at the paint jobs...especially the Cobra Commander and Duke comic packs. Are they supposed to be such bright, almost neon colors? Even the scarlett looks different....almost cheap looking. They almost look like "ripoffs" of the original 25th line. Anybody thoughts?

Here's the thing about these comic 2-packs. Most of the figures' paint jobs are supposed to be based on their comic book appearances (hence, why Duke is so bright green). However, a lot of these figures (Hawk, Breaker, Torch, Ripper, Tomax, Xamot, Ace, Wild Weasel) seem to be realistic in appearance. Generally, most of the re-released characters (Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, Duke, Scarlett, Destro, Cobra Commander) are in bright and vibrant colors and the characters that haven't been already released (Tomax, Xamot, Hawk, Breaker, Torch, Ripper, CG (Fred), Scarface, Ace, Wild Weasel) are getting (thankfully) realistic paint jobs.

Ahhhh, thanks for clearing that up for me. Thats interesting because my brother and I are both drawn to the more realistic "vintage" comic packs like ripper and torch and the upcoming crimson guards, ace and wild weasel, etc...but not so much with the "comic" style ones. Thanks, Ill pass your explination on to him. Sam

I think most of us on here at hisstank like the more realistic paint jobs and are thankful that Hasbro only painted the already released characters in the bright, neon-like comic colors.

I also think that once they saw the backlash to the color choices they quickly shifted gears. If you notice the bogus color choices are only in the first wave. Destro might be kinda "Boo-Berry" looking but he's no Eco-Warrior like Duke.

The comic packs have always had some ridiculous colour choices. Sometimes they aren't even internally consistant, also--In the #21 pack, Roadblock has yellow pants and Duke has a tan-ish shirt, while in the comic itself, Roadblock's pants are the same shade as Duke's shirt. Oops.

That is bizarre. Taking a very nicely sculpted figure and making it look cheap and godawful. I will pass on the ones I already have the original figures of. I wish that Breaker was a single. That is pretty much a $10 figure because I am not sure I would even keep the brightly-colored Destro. Nice to know that they are keeping the unreleased ones toned down.

Destro's worthy of getting just for his head (to swap onto the normal looking Destro's body)!

They're probably using colors that they normally don't use.. hence getting rid of crap inventory.. making it even cheaper.. just a guess |
