Cross Country is certainly one of the more colourful and i guess to the degree a typical stereotype of the Southern American ,he was short tempered ,not too sophisticated ,listened to country music and an all around hick ,but by todays standards probably considered a bit controversial because of the belt buckle he had with the Conferderate flag on it ,me i don't really care but the PC "stasi" are all up in arms about it i suppose ?
Did anyone like this character ,and if so why ..? |

I loved the havoc as a kid. The figure didn't get much play time but I did enjoy him in the sunbow toon

I was surprised they didn't do it much sooner with the popularity of the show "Dukes of Hazzard" the General Lee had the confederate flag slapped on the roof of the car!!

I love Cross Country. Of course I have noticed that some people get pretty upset over the confederate flag, but most people who sport this flag do so as a symbol of sourthern pride and has nothing to do with support of slavery or racism.

The HAVOC ,was a cool looking vehicle ,but not very practical in actual combat ,i never understood who would lye down on their "gut" in the front exposed to heavy enemy fire with nothing more than plexiglass protecting you ,one hit from a mortar shell and you would be dusted ,and Cross Country would be picked off pretty easy sitting on top with no protection ..yikes !

Cross-Country was a stereotype, but there were a LOT of stereotypes in G.I.Joe. Roadblock rhyming while he spoke. Spirit and Quick-Kick. I agree the HAVOC had it's flaws. i wish they would redesign it more like a semi truck in front with a protected gunner.
