We've been anticipating the release of IDW's G.I. Joe #1 for a while now, and in recent weeks, have conducted comic-related polls. IDW will also be releasing 2 other books, G.I. Joe:Origins & G.I. Joe:Cobra.
Now that G.I. Joe #1 has been released, and with 2 more books to look forward to, the poll of the week is: Do You Think IDW Is Off To A GOOD Start With Their G.I. Joe Comics? DISCUSS! |

WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too early to tell. One issue and #0 don't give anywhere enough "evidence" to judge by. Too early to be asking.
Especially since the other 2 offerings aren't out yet. Check back in 6 months.

As of issue 1... pretty good. I have no problem with anything I've seen yet (DialTone's gender change just isn't relevant enough to throw me off) So it's on my "read" list now, but, like troynos says, let's see what they're doing with it in 6mo. I'm excited about what's coming up, and I guess that's all I can ask of any given comic book.

I agree as of Issue 1 I want to pick up Issue 2. That did not happen with Transformers. I like what they are doing so far and the fact that I can pick from a G.I. Joe or Cobra Cover is cool.

I'm excited to see where IDW will be taking GI Joe. I'll be buying the 2nd Iss of GI Joe as well as Joe Origins & GI Joe: Cobra.
It's WAAAAAAAAAYYYY too early to be judgemental on IDW's GI Joe series. I have a feeling that GI Joe is in good hands at IDW and they will do it justice. After reading the first Iss & seeing that Dial Tone is now a woman, I immediately thought in my mind of the thousands of Joe fans who will be bitching and complaining that this is so. As for me, it's alright. All things change. Sometimes for the better or sometimes for the worse. Bottom line. Some Joe fans will love the series and other Joe fans will do what they do best; bitch and complain that GI Joe isn't exactly how it was when they were a young kid. Here's to you GI Joe & IDW. I hope you do a Kickass job! |

You need to add an option for "Too early to tell". Seriously, after an issue and 1/2 it's too soon for this. I will say I am put off by them changing things for the sake of changing things. (Dial Tone)

Even with #1 being good, can they maintain that same level of goodness? And if some people weren't 100% sold on #1 yet, will #2 and beyond bring them around?
Just too early to tell. And maybe G.I. Joe is good, but Origins will suck (or Cobra will suck).

This is my first post here, but I, like the rest, think it's too early to tell. I did find it irritating that they kept calling each other by the shortened forms of their code names. I just sounded forced to me. Otherwise it looks to have potential of a good storyline. I'm most excited about the Cobra series though, it's the angle that hasn't been used yet and seems a pretty good take on the whole Joe story.
