With that said I’ll have to pick it apart a bit. I’ll agree that the Sigma 6 line was awesome in terms of play value and figure posing… …For many that’s where it stops… So many people raised in the 80’s dislike this new “Anime look†of ultra distortion. I’m one of them. I won’t however blindly bash the line like many others do… Me personally, I like the more realistic approach of the older figs (yes, I know I’m using the word realistic loosely). As the line went on I actually liked it less and less. For me the Movie figs and the “Serpentor age†was the beginning of the end for me. As a kid I loved the highly detailed, rather “real†vehicles and figs. Guys like Cobra Commander and his metal face might have been stretching it a bit but not like the Sigma figs. Sigma figs would have better if they had not been so absolutely distorted. The huge torso, pencil thin legs, absurdly large comic weaponry and other Anime inspired distortion really killed the whole line for me (and many others). The lack of vehicles is also a bummer. The problem with vehicles (and the following will not be some amazing revelation, just a fact) is that the 8†figs are just too large for vehicles…a plane would have to be some 6’ long (I’m not sure what the scale for an 8†fig is). This really hurt the line in terms of total play value. The Sigma figs were a great idea and with a few changes or even an alternate more “traditional†line, could have been a success. The reality is that with the 25th line selling like mad, it’s completely apparent that the Sigma line is a thing of the past. Hasbro has a Joe success on their hand for the first tie in MANY years and they're going to try to hold on to that as long as possible...even if it means killing off other Joe lines tin order to do it. To the fans of the Sigma line I say I'm sorry to see it go. If I loved a line like that and it died I would be really angry about it. Quote:

Really the reason the 25th line got extended was because it became popular, If Sigma Six was a financial success you can bet Hasbro wouldn't have axed it, they're a company trying to make money. You don't see them cancelling the Transformers movie line for G1 re-issues, now do ya? Quote:

You know I enjoyed many versions of G.I.*JOE from the 12" - 3.75" - 8". It has been a great ride just enjoying the product. Yeah, it has its ups and downs and I was really upset when the 3.75" when went away and Sigma came in to the picture. But then I broke down and started buying the figures and was really happy with the line. Just as much as I enjoyed the 3.75" line. It has its up and downs but thats life in the toy industry...you guys remember spawn figures and how cool they were? Now you see them as little dull statues that you can't give them away. it all has its highs and lows...I say we continue supporting the product and see where this ride takes us???
G.I.*JOE!!! ADVENTURE TEAM! SUPER JOE! A REAL AMERICAN HERO!!! SIGMA SIX!!! 25TH ANNIVERSARY! G.I.*JOE THE MOVIE!!!

And recall that Target and TRU both EXPANDED Joe space in early 2005, despite the line ending in only 6 months, Walmart was the only major retailer to keep Joe to a small section of the toy aisle. Keep in mind all of the newly molded figures and vehicles that came out in DTC were originally intended as Robot Rebellion product, and many of the frankenjoe figures we got were originally intended with new molds. And I had heard work was being done on a $60 HQ playset. You don't design and mold stuff like the RHINO and ROCC if your line is ending, that stuff comes out in strong line. Ironically, it was Walmart's desire for the "kid friendly" Sigma Six that lead to Hasbro axing the 3.75 figure line in 2005. Then two years later, they push for 3.75 over Sigma Six. Isn't funny how much lines are dependant on retailers' whims?
