In the third grade some kid went into my backpack and swiped my Hooded Cobra Commander (Mail-Away) and replaced it with Snow Job.
When class was over I saw CC in his hand and said "Hey that's mine!" He told me he wanted to borrow it until the next day and I said no deal since I already had Snow Job. He pleaded so I said okay. I asked him for CC back for like a week straight until he finally said he lost it in his backyard. Three years later I come to find out he traded with another kid in our school who was also into joes. I finally got my CC back at the end of sixth grade. When I was sixteen I sent all my Joes to my cousins in S. America. Why the hell did I do that?

I had stopped collecting and buying Joes in 1985 but around 1988 or so I was over a friends house who I had just recently met in school. In his closet he had a bunch of the post 85 Joes in a big box. We laughed about how lame Joes were and he told me his grandparents would still buy him toys for his Birthday and Christmas. I told him i had a shit load of the older Joes stored in my basement. we got to digging around in his stuff and came up with the crazy idea of "wouldn't it be fun to set them all up one more time". A few days later my mom drove me over to his house with all my Joes in the back trunk. I remember her saying "aren't you guys a bit old to be playing with these things"....needless to say we set them all up (took hours) and then threw them all in his room when we were done and moved onto something else (probably watching his dads porn movies).........I can still hear my mom say "make sure you come home with your toys...you are going to want them one day". well, I didn't listen and I left them all over his house telling my mom I would get them and not to worry. a couple of weeks/months passed and I still hadn't picked them up (and my mom forgot about it) long story short I lost touch with the kid as the months past and I cared less and less about getting them back. That summer my "friend' moved away and I never saw him or my Joes again. I had just about every figure, vehicle and accessory released between 1982-85. It still burns me to this day...and my mom has never let me forget it. I still get the "I told you so" look from her whenever the topic comes up.

Traded Snake-Eyes v2 for a Cobra Viper, back when the Cobra Viper was the new hotness.
And of course didn't think twice when mom told me it was time to pare down my collection to sell the rest at a garage sale. Though at least she gave me the proceeds. My collection went from tons of figures and dozens of vehicles down to about a dozen or so figures and a handful of vehicles. |

Worst trade: Swapped my mail order shield face CC (the first one) for some cheap knock off that my "friend" told me was a newly released Joe. I found them "new joes" later hanging on the pegs at k-mart.

Not exactly a trade, but I gave away my entire joe collection when I was in 8th grade or so basically 84-89 stuff including a cherry tomahawk and havoc. One of my friends had a family with like 4 brothers and I had hit the point where I knew I was never going to have the time to spend with them like I had or like I thought they deserved so I gave them all to that family figuring they would get four generations or so of play more than what I had. To this day I have no idea what they did with them. I like to think they are sitting on the youngest brothers wall or one of his sons is playing with them.

LOL! I bet you were probably anxiously waiting to see this knock off "Joe" pop up on the cartoon show too.

I wasn't a kid, but in my twenties I traded a carded ARAH Lowlight, Zandar and Bazooka for 39 Star Wars comics.
I was an idiot. |
