Flagg scaled to Skystiker

If your thinking of building a U.S.S. Flagg to scale of a Skystiker, you may want to consider a separate metal building. With the measurements of the Skystriker, the Flagg flight deck length is 34ft. 2in, and the width is 7ft. 9in. at the widest. The stern of the flight deck is 55in. W. The scale was taken off the U.S.S. Nimitz. The Skystiker mea. are 23 5/8 in. L x 13 3/4 in. W. (wings swept in) The elevator will carry 2 Skystikers side by side with the wings swept in. The movie The Final Countdown was filmed 90% of the time on the Nimitz and shows more detail than pictures show, if your interested in more detail. Anyway, that's what I came up with. I'd like to construct one, just don't have the room. Plenty of vehicles and figures to go it, though. Enjoy.

If you're going to go that far, why not go all the way and just make it truly 1:18 rather than what 1:32 or something since the Skystriker is undersized? Based on the Nimitz, a 1:18 carrier would have an overall length of 60.7 feet.

It's fun to think about though!

I have 14 30th anniversary SkyStrikers waiting for me to build this exact concept in my backyard out of wood just to show what it would look like. maybe I can get to it this spring.

It would be cool, and less costly to also built it out of the styrofoam type material that they built R/C planes out of. Its ratehr strong and you can use carbon fiber ribs in areas you might need support in. Also you can coat the whole thing in plasti-dip or wrap it in vinyl wrap like they use on cars, although Im not sure how the heat from the heat gun would affect it unless its a low setting as to not melt the styrofoam material.i can't think of what its called at the moment.

I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

nice

If you do, I'd love to see a picture. Thanks for the idea. I might overlay 4x8 sheets of paneling on the ground and sketch it out.

If I get to own a 1:18 scale aircraft carrier, I'd play with it by putting the bitch on top of my car, drive around town and brag that I have a frickin holy grail.
