We never got vehicles my mom always said they had to many pieces to clean up after. All we had was a bomb disposal and a recon sled our aunt had gotten us one Christmas. I knew better than top bother asking for a vehicle but every time we went to the store i would plant myself in front of the mobile battle bunker and just examine it till it was time to go. Much to my surprise that year I found one under the tree. I was so happy I would take it to bed with me every night so it would be on my nightstand ready to go first thing in the morning. Mom would later go on to outdo herself in 92 with the Joe headquarters.

My favorite Joe Christmas memory would be Christmas of 1993 when both my best friend and I each got the 1992 Joe Headquarters. I'd gotten the odd Joe figure here and there before that (I was born in '83), but I didn't really get completely into them until the summer of '92. We started really building our armies up soon after, and the base was top on both of our Christmas wish lists. I woke up Christmas morning to the base fully assembled on the couch, as well as a couple of packs of The Corps figures (I know my folks tried, but those figures sucked soooo bad compared to Joes, and were always first to die). We had many battles over the years with those bases, and I still have mine, though some parts are broken on it. I really should try to fix it up some day and restore it to all it`s former glory.

My most memorable Christmas memory related to Joes was Christmas of 92. My little brother got the 92 HQ, Sonic Fighter Psyche Out and I got Fort America, Sonic Fighter Zap and BC Iceberg. We played with them a ton over that week under the Christmas tree in our village and on the train that circled the tree. Really fun times.

My boys got the Retaliation Eaglehawk and Ninja Cruiser this Christmas. Plus some Kenner Aliens figures and Brick Arm Aliens Pulse rifles. Hopefully in 20 years they can post to this thread about it.

Hands down the best was Christmas 1984. My brother and I had discovered Joe earlier that year and we were hooked.
When we woke up that morning it has a Joe explosion. We got multiple figs, the Skystriker, HISS tanks, MOBATs, APCs, SNAKES, Battle Bears and Dragonflys. We played with the parachutes in the Skystriker so much that our hands were blue from the chutes. Our Grandma had two small sets of stairs and we spent hours dropping the parachutes down the stairwell. It was an absolutely fantastic Christmas. |

When my brother and I got the Flagg. We were the only kids in school that had it. Even my friends who weren't into GI Joe thought it was cool. Plus, the amount of swearing that came out of my father's mouth when putting it together was legendary.

‘85 was an memorable Christmas for GI Joe. It started with the ferret from my moms work kids Christmas party. Then on Christmas morning there was a lot of presents that had my name on them. Besides the Battle Platform I received the Snowcat w/ Frostbite, the Shark w/ Deep Six, Buzzer, Ripper & Torch, Quick Kick, Spirit and Tomax & Xamot. I also received a couple Sears exclusives. The SMS and the Cobra Combat Set that included the ASP & Stinger. I’m not sure if that was a Canadian exclusive or available in the US as well? As a kid I never knew how rare those sets were. As a bonus, my birthday is in January and I received the Rattler w/ Wild Weasel.
I started collecting again a couple years ago and decided I’d try to rebuild the Christmas of ‘85 collection with modern figures and modern & vintage figures. I was 7 in ‘85, and was hoping to have it done Christmas 2018 when my son was 7. Didn’t happen, so now I’m hoping for 2020, the 35th Anniversary of that Christmas. I recently purchased the Heetseek missile system and only have a modern Quick Kick and Frostbite left to find. We’ll see what the coming year brings. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
