I used to play joes with a friend years ago and we were old....are whole "adult" play life we called this "REALMING" which is exactly what it was. A realm that is not earth...and I'll tell you we created some of the best stories ever told and rewrote the books on gi joe and xmen also....we even lead to worlds where every character was our own creation. But yeah it is so damn fun to actually become characters like storm shadow and get into the mind of the character and make a hero out this guy that has been lied to for so many years.after you do this for so long you realize hollywood is $h!t and won't even scratch the surface of how deep your world is.It would have taken like 5-6 ,3 1/2 hr movies to cover my joe-verse.

This was a great thread, I laughed my a** off reading it, because I've been there. I remember setting some stuff up, and then half way through, I thought, what the hell am I doing. I have a recording studio in my house called Noizy Toyz Studioz, so I display allot of my Joes with some of my Star Wars collection. I have about 15 totes full of stuff and try to rotate things periodically. I will only open things if I have a duplicate MOC. Anyone out there interested in checking out my band's site, go to myspace.com/shadowbreedband. To JohnnyAngel77, your not alone bro, we all nerdy with ya.

I don't have a lot of time to "play" with my Joes-having battles or missions for them. I do display many of them in an area of my basement. I have the Mobile Command Center and the Battle Platform set up on sawhorses and boards with vehicles and figures around them. I also have all my Joe aircraft set up on some boards, as if they are on the Flagg's flight deck. Sometimes, I'll display a new figure on my nightstand, but that can freak out my wife-"Why's he looking at me?" "He's not dear. It's OK"

I started off just a little over a year ago with only the two original 5-pack gift sets displayed on my desk and now I became a Joe Fiend Addict.I went from just getting sealed cards to keep MOC,then I went to desiring another one for openers, then I became my wallets worst enemy...I became an army builder. Here's what I do with my stuff and it actually doesn't take up that much space:

I build scenes with all my cobra stuff... I look at them and think about what they are doing, and how the Joes and lurking and plotting to raid... then my inner child gets the best me. GI Joe swarms in and battle ensues.
THEN I GET TO BUILD A WHOLE NEW SCENE AND DO AGAIN!!!

I look foreword to playing. My son and I use a dice system to manage battle decisions. We have developed everything from missing a target to frying a vehicle/figure. We have a scale for interrogations & escape attempts. Any situation can be covered; the player just needs to make a decision to try a certain tactic. Now my youngest just received his first joes for Christmas (6 years old). My oldest son (12 years old) and I started ‘play dates’ after a Christmas vacation years ago. So whenever we want to ‘play’ we schedule it and it is a blast.

Awesome thread, I love this. I just skimmed over all the posts
and picked out stuff and said to myself, "hey, I do that!" all over the place:
- collect so much that some of it is stored in totes and rotate out my displays occasionallys
- I never really stopped collecting, just slowed in the 90's when everything seemed like it slowed (could never get into "eco-friendly Joe")
- Play with my son (5) all the time -- he has his Transformers and I have my Joes and Transformers, and I've let him make his own ARAH figures. When he can learn to read I'll introduce him to the filecard creator.
- My daughter's not ready just yet but I did get her her first set -- one of the BTR Cobra sets, since she loves lego's. SHe was all over that. My son loves them too, he got a couple of nice sets this Xmas. Say what you want about BTR, one of my favorite memories of my son will always be putting together the Raging Typhoon with him on evenings after Xmas.
When it's just me and my wife, I usually just pose a couple of figs I've taken out or acquired new, or bounce ideas for customs off her. She's a jewel. She even thinks it's cute that I have something to "get into".
One thing I don't think I've seen others mention is watching the cartoons or listening to the music... we watch the DVD's all the time while playing w/ the kids and I made a CD of main titles from all the different series for the car. Ok, some of it isn't just GI Joe -- my daughter loves the Bioinic Six theme song, for example.
Heh, I'm gettin' excited just thinking about this weekend... I think Galvatron is going to lead the Decepticons on a breakout from totes on an all-out assault on Lego GI Joe Headquarters.
Play on, troops...

i'm a grown man, and nothing beats freeing a new toy from it's package. I'll attach all his equipment, and pose him a bit.
Not sure if that counts as playing, but dammit it's fun.
Every time it snows though,*us canuckleheads didn't need "playsets in the winter* I want to take them all outside and build a huge snow fortress for them all to fight in, but i just `can't do it.
Rhino DVD sets, boglins, joes transformers and Resident evil all in my most randomest bst thread on the tank.
