you know, there are thousands upon thousands of people doing better than you....and there are thousands upon thousands of people doing worse than you. maybe someone looks at you and thinks...."how can this guy spend $7 on a small toy." cuz maybe that person hasnt the extra $7 to spare. like i say, perspective people, perspective. what a doucher. you are obviously mistaken his sarcasm for whining. like you say.......perspective....yours is a little off. |

I don't understand how someone can take another persons conversation started post and see it only as a chance to bash that person. I am confused by THAT specific behavior......but am I WHINING about you? No, I am just asking questions about behavior that is baffling to me. Josh

It's going to sound flippant, but the simple answer really is that everyone collects in his (or her) own way. No one is right or wrong, but we all tend to think that our way is the best (otherwise we would do it another way).
Some people don't mind paying well above retail for new items. On the other hand, I haven't paid more than retail for any of my 25th Joes....and I have every figure (sans variants) released up through wave 12. Some people don't see spending big bucks on Joe items. On the other hand, I am about to drop $2K on a single purchase....but I think it's a good deal. My thing is that I feel like I have a pretty good idea for what "market value" is for most items in the line and I hate it when people pay above market for stuff. For example, a Night Scrambler (Night Force APC) missing the seat belts just sold on EBay for a little over $100. IMO, since it's incomplete, it's a $30 toy. So why does it bother me that someone paid $100 for it? Because the next seller that comes along is going to slap a BIN of $100 on his because he saw this one, and the only way that I will get one is to overpay for it. Is that whining? I don't know - it's just my perspective and every collector has one that is different from the next guy's.

For $1800 I'll sit in someone's Night Raven box and make plane and laser noises while he swims around in his giant gold filled vault ala Scrooge McDuck.

Personally, I believe that they're just really rich collectors who would rather drop more cash to get what they want rather than have to risk not getting it. Hey, if I made half a million or more a year, I would.

Spot on Henning... by the fact we're on here I'm going to guess we're pretty ravenous collectors. If money and space were not an option I'd have a collection to rival the US Military.

Maybe they are one of those people that answered the spam email to help someone in another country transfer a large sum of money...they got rewarded and decided to buy a MIMP Snake Eyes with thier cut! It actually works!

Personally, there are a few things I would pay for, but if you're patient, there is a lot you can get for a very small amount. I got a V2 SE for 32 bucks, comnplete with filecard, and it was in great condition.
