I just couldn't belive it.
I went to Target this morning and there it was, I saw it w/ my very own eyes, the Target Exclusive Ultimate Battle Pack on clearance for $44.09. And they had 3 of them on the shelf along w/ 4 jets on clearence also for $17.49. I'm sure probably, within a week or two it will probably retail less than that and thats when I will pick up another one. Now if you live overseas, then I can understand why you would have to use ebay and pay a little more than retail for the exclusives, but if you live in the USA which most of us do, then there is just know excuse. You see, thats why I can't see how some idiots paid over $200.00+ dollars for this thing when all they had to do is just wait. I mean what is it when it comes to GI Joe, its like idiots don't care what the price is they just gotta have now. And having it now means your gonna pay the price for it now which will be over 4times the retail price. Idiots Just be patient thats all. But no!!, everbody panics and then quickly runs to there precious BBTS, ebay or Brian's toys and then droppeds hundrends more than what it retails for in the store. Just like that sucker who paid $1000.00 for that Target Exclusive Cobra Rattler, I sill can't get over that one, that dummy could have gotten many other things w/ that money instead of some cheap ass plastic made in china toy which is still being sold in Target today. I think the reason why some people are impatient when it comes to joes is that when something first comes out they have fear that they will never find it. But I say if you wait you will find it. PS I have up 4 sale a "YELLOW STALKER" thats right I said it, a YELLOW STALKER. I will let it go for $2000.00. That price is right up yous alley you shouldn't have a problem w/ that. Because after all you pay over $500.00+ for pimp daddy Destros, Roddy Roddy Pipers and other varients. So I say $2000.00 is a steal. Sucker!!!!!!!!!!! I understand what you are saying, but there are aleast 2 thing to keep in mind.
1. Some people dont care about the money. My cousin is a perfect example. He will pay 15-30 a figure and doesnt care. Ive talked with him about this and he simply doesnt mind buying his toys for a higher price. 2. Not all thing are available in all areas in such great quantities. While those UBP's are in adbundace in your area, there are some towns who only got 4 and that was it. nothing more. Now paying a grand for a rattler is pretty stupid, but if you ask that person he probably doesnt care. I would'nt b/c I cant afford to spend that much on anything i didnt need. I would be sick. but everybody is different. Last edited by DustyOldPlastic; 01-03-2009 at 12:26 AM.. Reason: misspelled "would'nt" |

I couldn't agree with you more, I made the mistake of buying 10 crimson guard on 25th cards on ebay in the beginning ( Actually, I bought most og waves 1-8 online at inflated prices!) for over 100 dollars, opened all of them only to see the re-issues at Target for 4.99 later. I have spent 3500.00 dollars when I should have spent well under 2,000. I lost sleep over those stupid jets now they are everywhere!
The only exception was the blue wraith, I jump on one for 30 from BBTS and I sure am glad I did because I do not think anyone in the North East got one at retail. I understand people in Canada or overseas buying the exclusives, but everyone else should be patient. I know I am going to be more selective with what I buy this year, I was very stupid in 2008. |

Plus, how many people ( myself maybe) are going to tire of the collecting and sell their entire MOC 25th joe collection on Ebay for less than a grand? ( I see it all too often). Especially if many are disenchanted with the movie line and the repaints increase there may be a few of us that sell off our collections. If the line doesn't start giving two or three new vintage characters per wave ( hit &run, wet-sui, etc) I am sure to stop collecting myself!

Maybe they think that you are an "idiot" for waiting.
I mean why wait months when you can pay just 40 bucks to get that figure right now? Personally, I am happy to wait and hunt....but, if those people have the money and they want the toy right now.....good for them. Josh

i dont get it either......some figures take a bit more patience than others, but i know i find everything retail at some point.
granted the following doesnt fall under the category of secondary market but.... all being said, i did order two cobra divers from past gen. toys last week. paid $8 each and $8 for shipping. the catch was i used a gift card that i got as a gift from my employer....so that money wasnt really real. and before anyone asks...the gift card wasnt for past gen. toys it was for walmart. i gave it to my wife so she could use the $25 on regular purchases, while i charged the figs on my MC, and the saved $25 gets applied to my MC bill. |

I used BBTS exclusively for wave 10 on but I am tired of the extra figures and vehicles in the cases. Then I have to return them to Target or Walmart without a receipt. I like to troop build vehicles and figures, but Hasbro has been giving us lame extras. I would have loved an extra fang/claw, not a firebat. Also, the extra figures in wave 10-13 were figures I really didn't need extras of.

for the same reason people pay $10-12 for single figures on bbts... ebay isn't the only place reselling for profit and high prices. there is no differnece in paying some of the bbts prices than scalper prices on ebay.
there are many reasons why people pay what they do. 1. they don't have to worry about cost 2. time is more important than cost for those got to have it now people 3. it's none of our business really. 4. it's a for profit free market society in which we praise and live in. this is an example of that working successfully, like it or not. i mean really, how many threads do we need on scalpers, ebay, high prices and such? i doubt anything new can be added that has not already been said in any of the previous threads that still exist, if they still exist... i won't pay more than retail unless i can and want to which is very far and few inbetween. i would not reccommend others do it but at the same time i'm not going to club them for doing it. it's thier time, thier money, thier perogitive.

I don't order from websites or use ebay at all. Wait, I take that back. I do order from HTS.com evey once in awile if they have a sale going on like free shipping or 20% off on all GI JOE.
Because I'm smart enought to know, that I will find it in the stores for way less money. All of my 25th anniversary joes, vehicles and exclusives I have found them all at retail. I even found most of the variants at retail too, the only one I didn't find was the Black Head Destro comic pack. Other than that I have found mostly everything at retail. Oh yeah, the extreme conditions, which you can't find at retail because its an Internet exclusive, so I would have to order that one too. Last edited by lldjslim; 01-02-2009 at 11:48 AM.. |
