i can understand some people dont care about tha money simply cuz it is g.i. joe, and some people just have to have somethin tha moment it drops. not me though, all my 25th stuff i found at retail or got froma tanker. ive looked thru bbts, hts, and ebay, but just lookin, prices too out of hand. like those jets, i fell into tha hype and did some huntin, i checked ebay, i wasnt gonna buy them from there, but i wanted to see what tha people who found them were charging, eventually i found some, and now between tha two targets in my area are more. simply put, ill wait, i dont need anything that much to pay an inflated price.

I gave up on retail a long time ago. I simply do not have the time to search for Joes. I order everything I want online. I usually pay about $10 a figure. To me it is worth it. I'll gladly pay an extra couple of dollars just so I don't have to enter a Walmart. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of time and gas wasted in the effort. Half of the figures I own, I have never come across in a store, so waiting was never really an option. I try to buy only from online stores. I do not want to encourage ebay scalpers, so I don't buy from them. However, I will resort to ebay for packed in figures, so I don't have to buy a whole set. I agree that these things can sell for insane amounts at times. But, I just assume they are going to people with more money and even less time than me. If you can afford to pay $30 a figure, congratulations, you're rich. If however, you are like 90% of Americans and carry a sizable credit card debt, yet you still over pay for items you can't afford. You officially are an idiot.

Back in May one of the Walmarts had a whole shipment of Joes in stock. They had a fourway display and the pegs full. It was the last of the 25th and the first of the white cards. I had everything except for Wild Bill. When Wizard World rolled around in June to Chicago I caved and bought the 25th Wild Bill for $20. Four days later at work a new shipment came in and there was Wild Bill at $6.88. I always have a problem where if I see it and pass I don't see it again. And if I see it and buy it, I usually see it for cheaper or a whole bunch of them a little while later. I spent several hundred dollars back in October on a whole bunch of orginal He-Man animation cels and vowed not to buy anything for myself until after Christmas. In the midst of my shopping it seemed like every store, every time I went had something new that I needed. I have learned that if you are patient you will find almost anything, but usually at a inconvient time. In fact I found my Black Headed Destro on a casual stop in at KB's and 4 variant Wraiths and all the Resolute figures before Christmas. I picked up one a piece and my friend picked up the others and made a nice profit selling them on eBay.

First of all, no one "like(s) paying scalper prices".
Some people would rather pay a little more and make sure they have it rather than not have it at any price.
I used to work a gift shop, and we would sell Boyd's Bears figurines, and there would be people that would ONLY get a first edition of each figurine.
I would often ask those collector's that they would rather have no figurine over not getting one as a first edition, and 99% of the time, their answer would be, yes.
I didn't understand it, but it's their collection. Who am I to judge how they collect.
I only collect loose figures, well, up until the 25th Joes started coming out. Now, I get one opener and one on card.
To each their own. I've always said that I don't have to be the first to get it, I just need to get it.

My question is...
WHY DO you keep making all these retarded threads about scalpers and ebay?
I don't know of anyone on this site that pays any more than they ever have to - for anything related to Joes. If they do, so what?
There are people that will take advantage of a collectible's rarity + demand, but the true collectors far outweigh that of the so-called scalpers.
In fact, when I was at Target today, I saw a young boy about 8 years old with a bunch of Joes in his arms that his mom was buying for him. Pretty cool that kids are still into them.

I also agree. I'm not a huge joe collector as most are here, I only just buy the ones I really want, I never preorder, because I only usually only really like one figure in a particular wave. And like you said, you just have to wait sometimes, I was going to give up on looking for barbecue, and maybe buy him online, but i finally found him a couple of months ago.
I only buy online if I absolutely cannot find what Im looking for in stores.
