The figures are a dream come true, especially after Venom vs Valor.
I just wish the vehicles had the same realistic upgrade that the figures have. The vehicles look fit for the '85 Joes. |

All things considered, I am extremely satisfied with the 25th/Modern Era line. We got tons of new figs and vehicles this year, above and beyond what H'bro could have given us. And the quality of the figs and vehicles has gotten better with each wave. 2008 compares favorably with any year Joe has been released, which is pretty amazing considering the movie, Resolute, comics and mainstream animation are yet to hit stride. And 2009 should be a serious upgrade for the total franchise even from 2008.

Nah, there's a lot of room for improvement.
Too many repaints, too much reuse of parts. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the line, and will continue to support it, but am I 100% satisfied? Not entirely, no.

I think the line has been very solid. And more interesting than any other with it's growth in '08... my fave line of the year by leaps & bounds.
The GOOD: in no particular order 1) A nice design principal that has been improving (like Resolute Duke's elbow motion) 2) Manageable sized vehicles 3) great retools & nostalgia repaints: Roadblock '86, Tiger Force, Python Patrol... 4) creative new figures & homages: Para Viper, Pilot Scarlett, Trakker 5) Bringing some form of classic Joe DVD's back & offering more cartoon accurate characters: Cobra Diver, Lady Jaye (animation version), Mass Device Baroness, Wild Bill (animation colors) 6) new creative repaints: Black Head Destro, Firefly (night ops), Extreme Conditions 7-packs 7) obscure characters: Red Star, Hard Master, Star Duster 8) Great newly molded Classics & bettering existing characters: Dusty, Mutt, Scrap Iron, BAT, Snow Serpent, BBQ, Beach Head '86, Zartan '83, Hawk '86, Snake Eyes '89 9) Lots of variety to choose from between comic packs, singles, vehicles, dvd's, with steady product coming. 10) mail away Doc 11) The news of RESOLUTE animation 12) lots of exclusives The Not So Good: distro still needs some work, & so does quality control (sloppy paint, missing apps, extra flash), & there were some unnecessary releases like Tripwire w/element & some uninspired repaints/releases like Duke (Year 1) & Major Bludd (single card). im somewhat satisfied, im glad g.i. joe is back. its been primarily one-sided in my opinion cuz cobra is clearly winnin tha war of design, and i think alot of tha joe designs have sucked. obviously not all cuz r they're some damn great joe figures, but cobra has had way more awesome figures. also, some of tha weapons have sucked. i wish there was more consistency wit tha design and sculpting. i can understand some of tha design flaws early in tha line, but some of them keep popping up when it should be clear they dont work. my biggest dislike of tha line is figure choices they've made to release.
dont get me wrong, i luv tha line, i just had to vent some stuff, lol. i luv seein our childhood fig's back on shelves or possibly back on shelves (for tha figures we can never find lol). and overall theres been some really cool stuff put out and i hope to see much more this year, this may have sounded like a negative post lol, but its not. long live g.i. joe vs. cobra.

Great question! I voted yes, but I think I will vote no in the future if things continue.
I mean waves 1-11 were great. Resolute looks like a winner The comic packs are decent The movie line looks weak so far Too many repaints and same core characters. Hasbro is getting greedy... I would say up until wave 12 an A+ and after a C-. But I guess people buy what they like.... |

I'm happy with the line. Wish Hasbro could get MORE of them to market.
Additionally - I would like to see a few more Cobra Original figures, that make sense, like the Para-Viper. |
