Because it reconnects me to my childhood which in my opinion was a happier time in life. Plus it gives me a sense of creating a world the way I see it, with doing customs and setting up dioramas. I guess its a bit of a god like feeling.

gijoes are awsome, plus they have sentimental value to me. and i agree with zartanman,it connects me to my childhood as well of better times. now i can buy what i wasnt able to get when i was younger. the gijoe community is great, everything about gijoe makes me a happier person.

because it brings me back to my childhood, all those precious moments playing joes, when i could have been out slashing tires an kissing girls.
Seriously, its fun, it tickles that part of your brain that goes" remember when you had no cares in the world what so ever right before the weight of the world crushed your hopes an dreams.

Same reasons like everyone.Collecting Joes is my fountain of youth.Alot also has to do when I was younger my mom couldn't afford to buy me all the toys I wanted so I only had a few of them while some richer friends I knew back then had almost the entire 80's collection and I always wished I could have owned as many as they did.Sometimes I wish I can go in a time machine and bring back all todays modern toys back in time to my younger self.Weird huh?

You can't take your money with you... so enjoy it while you can.

I love that it's the plain, simple awesomeness of G.I. Joe that you love, and that sentimentality and a connection to your past are merely secondary reasons I collect because it gives me something relatively inexpensive to do in my spare time, I can enjoy the hobby from home (primarily through forums like this one), and it brings back many, many happy memories of playing with them from childhood. Frankly, I don't ever play with the ones I have now, they sit on a shelf, but I glance over at them often while paying bills, etc, and it reminds me of those carefree days of yore. Ah, to be a kid again. Mom making delicious meals, spending long afternoons having BB wars in the woods or playing Joes, not having any bills or responsibilities...

I can't think of a more fully realized toy line from the 80's than the Joes. The scale was great cuz you could have so many and it wouldn't take up that much space and tons of playability. The detail if the weaponry and vehicles. So many different, diverse characters and back stories that were rooted in reality that it was as if they existed. If the figures broke, you could easily fix them. I think that's why they stood the test of time. I think it's why my 6 and 8 year old cousins stopped playing with their Bakugans and pokemons to roll their VAMP and fly their Rattler. Because their dad and I played with them and they ask us questions about the characters and they can connect with us. I don't think I have had more fun at xmas time then this year when i put the decals on their vehicles for them. This 25th line has excited me more than when star wars came back out in 95'.
