I do consider myself a completist but not Ultra Completist that like to buy every variant and every single different cardback and every single artwork. As for me, I like to buy every singlecarded figures but only 1 of each, I don't army build. Army building is pointless for MOC collectors like myself, IMO. I only display them on the wall in their glory, why add extra figures to take up spaces? And as for the figures repaints, they don't bother me as much as it does for others. To me, it's still a different character or a "better" version. Repainted vehicles bothers me most since it's not cheap and sometimes not worth the cost. And as for the figures, how do we know if they will release the ones that were in the comic pack in the future? We don't, so we don't gamble away and miss our chances. I have no regret about buying Ripper and Torch Comic Pack but I will still buy the single cards because I look at them as corrected better version, not Repaints. We all have our own opinions and sometimes we feel that it justify to bash other collectors but it doesn't change things. You're barking up the wrong tree. Hasbro will keep doing what they think is working. Just my opinion, is all.

Bottom line: My money.. I earn it, I will blow it how I see fit! Anything to keep this Joe line going until I get everything I think I want.. I will contribute to the cause. If you don't like the figures, don't buy them. Someone else will and that's the truth of the matter. If you have a real gripe about crappy figures... Hasbro has an 800 number, heck maybe they will patch you through to Corporate people and you can rant to them. They may laugh in your face and hang up on you but at least you tried to make a difference!!

I wouldn't say that I'm a completist but so far I have bought one of everything released so far. I don't regret a single purchase.
It has been stated before and I'll rehash it again... repaints comes down to economics.
Hasbro has paid for the tooling (molds). The tooling is extremely expensive. So they release a figure utilizing the tooling. (and in many cases utilizing parts of that tooling to create parts for different figures) The run of that figure alone may not pay for the tooling. So they figure out a way to use existing tooling to create 'new' figures.
As much as we would like only new sculpts etc... we have to live with the fact that in many cases it is the repaints that help to pay for the new tooling for the new sculpts. And honestly, I don't mind. I don't look at many of the figures as 'they call him Wild Weasel but I know he's just red Snow Job with a different head and a few changes'... To me he's a stand alone Wild Weasel.
Cobra Diver using the tooling for Torpedo was brilliant to me. You are entitled to your opinion. And your opinion can be expressed in the form of purchasing what you want.
It is not completists that cause repaints and pegwarmers. This isn't a phenomenon that only happens in Joes. Star Wars, Transformers etc... all have this happen. It is a way to release a 'new' product in order to help finance truly new tooling. (and then the cycle starts all over again)

Here is another situation...
Lets say Hasbro releases another all repaint wave. But this time they decide to greatly reduce the number of figures produced because of the complaining about repaints...
These items would fly off the shelves because they would be labeled 'rare'. This has happened time after time in Star Wars. A somewhat boring figure that is shortpacked becomes almost impossible to find because it is the 'rare' one. Not because it is the coolest, best figure ever... just less accessible.
After collecting for so many years, I don't think there is any perfect formula for distribution. And I can't tell you how many times I've bought a figure, opened it and only then realized how cool it really is. And more than once that has spurred me to get a few more...

I just buy what i like.
That means, if im not crazy about a figure, i won't buy it, unless is a "bonus" (for example, i won't buy resolute SS, but if it comes with Tunnel rat which i really like, then is ok).
And i'm not the kind of guy that saves money (i'm not mad about Destro for example, but once i got it in my hands...oh, what the hell), in fact i wont have problems to pay 50 or 100 bucks for a figure that i REALLY want.
I also don't army build. I don't see why. At best, i could buy 2 or 3 Vipers, if they are released with differences (say, they have a different helmet or or hands, etc) but it should be an awesome figure.
I don't care either of the pacakage. I only care for the figure.
But this is a bussiness, not someone making figures to make a few fans happy. So repaints, repaints and more repaints let's them make more sells.
So i just simply buy the figure i like, and have no problems aaaall the others.
The 5 BATS pack is for fans that army build. The comic pack is for kids to read the comic, and play the adventure with the toys. So it's really simple, just buy what you like. A kid won't mind if Wild Bill is blue or green, or if Jetpack Duke has the flag backwards (ye did realized that i assume?). For each one of you nitpicking, there's 10 guys buying toys for their 1-3 kids. Make numbers.
Overall, i don't agree with "let's buy everything to support the Joes!". Toys support themselves, especially this kind of specific toys, but i don't see with bad eyes if somebody wants to do it.

Whether Us collectors buy the lame stuff or not , Hasbro will still continue to do what they do....so guys who call themselves completists and don't like some of the figures that they buy, let them be.....cause Hasbro doesn't know who buys what ...if collectors don't , then kids eventually will....and therefore Hasbro will see that it has still sold.
