I'm all for a somewhat scaled down Herky Bird for the Joes. I can see it as being large enough to carry a mini tank or AWE Striker, with room for troops as well. I'm picturing the design as being similar to the Millenium Falcon, in that part of the plane's top would have to be either removable or hinged to allow access to the cargo area. For that matter, the cockpit roof would also have to open to seat the pilots.

i had picked up some armadilloes on ebay with the idea of landing them on the backs of APCs but not really happy with them/ that idea at this point. other idea is to rig some sort of sling & deliver jeeps under tomahawks. |

I'm following the lead of quite a few others in converting a cheesy dino hunter helicopter into a Cobra transport helicopter, which looks very much like one from the comics. As far as tanks, remember that the HISS is an acronym for a high speed sentry vehicle - not really a tank. The early comics showed a Russian style heavy tank often as their mbt, and I would go that way when and if one of the other brands makes one. I think Cobra and GI Joe are pretty evenly matched with aircraft, but the armor has always been an issue.

for air power i like the joe storm eagle and cobra liquidator (w/o the water firing action BS)
also the Conquest X30 with either a repaint or something similar for cobra (no python patrol) skystriker is too big and most other planes are just too ridiculous (some exceptions- rattler/ a-10, ghost striker) |

Would anyone be interested if they made Joe and Cobra versions of a cargo plane or large helicopter that could carry vehicles and troops. It probably couldn't be to scale, but large enough to carry an Armadillo or Awe Striker. It could also handle dropping airborne troops. Any Comments?
I also think it's a bit unrealistic to think that Hasbro will produce a lot of new vehicles. The very Point of the 25th line seems to be to bring back classic vehicles that we all remember, and to do them better than they were originally. Consequently, from a realistic point of view, repaints seem to be the best answer. And if they're done well, there doesn't have to be anything "cheesy" about them. I personally can't wait for the new Tiger Rattler and the Python Conquest. I'm hoping to buy about 3 new Python Conquests and maybe two Tiger Rattlers, or maybe more. As for a larger, transport aircraft, I have often mentioned the idea for a Joe aircraft based on a combination of the U.S. Marine's Osprey and the USAF's Puff the Magic Dragon. VTOL capabilities would be great because they cold perform Air Assault (rappelling) operations in addition to Airborne (parachute) operations. It should be able to accommodate an Armadillo or an AWE Striker. That would be a fantastic aircraft and they could, as they did with the Patriot Grizzly and the Night Attack Helicopter, release it in multiple versions: desert and woodland, or Night Force or something like that. I wouldn't mind seeing a Cobra version for Cobra Spec Ops like Para-Vipers, Alley Vipers, and Python Patrol. Cobra needs a better/updated Navy and Air Force. I certainly agree with that, and they need a better armor column. Everything you've said is true. I suppose the only consideration Hasbro has to make is whether or not people will be willing to pay more for villain vehicles. I certainly would, but those of us who are older collectors don't buy the majority of the Joe toys. I also want to address the idea of using toys from other lines, such as BBI. Every fan has to create their own Joeverse. That's certainly true, and if using a line like BBI works then that's great. However, I don't think that is as good as Hasbro making official vehicles for Joe. And there's no problem in wanting official Joe vehicles and not accepting a substitute. Just my opinion.

I've seen other mentions on HISSTANK about Hasbro's molds, and "we know they have this on, we know they have that one". Where have people found this information?

For me, I like small (vintage) Cobra vehicles. I don't army build the Joe's. They are a govt funded small organization with the best troops and the best technology. I army build the hell out Cobra because of this. They can't win through skill and weapon superiority. The win by sheer force. Small inexpensive craft that just over whelm the competition. HISS tanks, Firebats and Water Moccasins. It's all about numbers. That's the type of strategist I've always seen Cobra Commander as. |

All I'm saying, is that it's nice when the equipment of the Cobras is in some way comparable to that of the Joes. If the Joes have a good tank, Cobra needs something similar to keep up... arms escalation and all that.

A scaled down Herk (C-130) would be sweet. The hinged roof would be awesome, I also would love to see some static line jumps from the back ramp, maybe they could equip it with sky hook (yeah I just saw Dark Knight again recently) but think of how cool that extraction would be...Now that I'm thinking of it, did the Joes use something similar to sky hook in Operation Dragon Fire? It's been years since I've seen it.
I'd really like to see a retooled version of the Tomahawk. It's not quite what you're describing as a scaled down Herc, but it would do a lot of the same things that you're suggesting. A retooled Tomahawk would be awesome.

I'm glad to see the Liquidator getting some love, I remember in a similar thread proposing an: accessory fix/update/rescale/non-watergun; so we get the classic delta wing fighter for Cobra we've wanted since MASS device. I would love to see it stay black though, for continuity sake- Raven/Fang etc.
