The idea of rooting through boxes and bins at conventions and toy shops is so appealing to me. I'll basically be starting from scratch. I'm already spending a lot of money on the 25th line, but I really think I want a complete '82 - '89 collection also. Trying to weigh the pros and cons. Help me out Tankers.

I do both and I love it. Just go at your own pace and you'll be fine!

I just started collecting vintage vehicles again. I haven't really picked up very many vintage figures in a while though.

I just started collecting vintage again. Ebay is great.
Just go slow and don't go overboard and you'll be okay. Also set a limit on how much you're willing to spend on a given figure and DO NOT GO OVER IT even if you lose out on the figure.

As much as I like the new stuff, nothing beats rummaging through boxes and matching up accessories to complete the vintage figures. I still love to do that. There's just something more satisfying about it.

I have collected so much vintage (82-94) and other lines since then (GvC, VvV, BTR, DTC, 25th ann), I am having a hard time keeping track of all the stuff. The one line I will never give up is the vintage. Nothing beats the original sculpt of the ARAH series from the 80s. I have alot of vehicle boxes by themselves if interested. I am trying to make room for my stuff and I need to get rid of the boxes. Good luck in collecting and go ARAH vintage, YO JOE!

I only do vintage and I love it! I'm picky about it, though. I do vintage style stuff from the 2000 series and later, but I hate hate hate when they color the eyes white. It just doesn't match up with the old stuff to me. I also didn't like the newer body designs with the super long legs, tiny torsos, and new arm construction. I don't include any of those in my collection, either. Some of the 25th stuff looks great, but for the same reasons (and my preference for harder plastic over this newer bendy stuff) I just stick to vintage.

While I do really like the new 25th figures in terms of articulation, the vintage is by far my favorite.
I would never want to sell any of my joes, but I'd much rather part with the new stuff than my vintage. Honestly, sometimes I wish I had not spent so much money on the newer figures and put it into the vintage so I could complete my missing parts/vehicles/figs. But then again, a major part of the fun is the search, and when I finally get it all, what will I do then?
