If, and this is a big if, they were as high quality as Sideshow then I would. I think if you look at past 12" Star Wars figures (Episode 1 Obi-Wan comes to mind) the figures may not have had the quality of articulation, but clothing, accessories, and sculpting back then were pretty good. When they were trying.
Sideshow cannot be beat in features though... I'd be happy with something in between. Or hell, just Sideshow quality at Hasbro prices... I can dream, right?

I collect 1/6 and 1/18 scale pop culture stuff.
I remember the old Hasbro 1/6 Star Wars figures. I bought them all. They were like dolls.
When Sideshow originally got the Star Wars line, figures were $50-$55 apiece. Now, they want $70-$125 for the figures. I don't mind paying that much for a rare piece, but now, I'm more selective.
IF hasbro could do what BBI was able to at a $40-$50 price tag, I'd be happy. 1/6 scale isn't for kids, really. It's for collectors. Hasbro tries to make the 1/6 scale Joes for kids, but I only see collectors with them, if they're purchased at all.

My interest in G.I.Joes is first and foremost to the characters captured in the 1982-1994 toy line. Their distinctive 82-94 uniforms are part of that appeal to me. I won't buy the current crop of 12" Joes because they're a) poor representations of the characters I like, and b) designed to be cheap, with minimal accessories and clothing.
The articulation and number of accessories they come with is a concern, but secondary. The 1991-1994 "Hall of Fame" series of 12" figures was near-ideal in my opinion. The cloth uniforms and accessories were excellent. The line was only marred by the lack of articulation and the lack of certain characters/uniforms, in my opinion.
I was very excited when the Sideshow license was first announced, because I anticipated getting well-articulated figures with recognizable toy/comic/cartoon-accurate face sculpts, clothing and accessories. Sideshow's "real world" take on the characters is an interesting spin, but not what I had hoped for.
If Sideshow (or Hasbro, for that matter) were to produce twelve-inch versions of an '83 style Duke or '86 style General Hawk, my credit card would have melted.

^^^ Yep ! ^^^ Hasbro made the 12" figure and now uses cheap plastic oversized pieces to make them "BETTER". I dought the GIJOE name would have made it thru the 60s if GIJOE looked like the crap on the shelfs today.

For Hasbro to make good 12" figures they would need better articulation and more accessories. They can do it. I have a few of the new 12" figures. For example Beachhead is a nice figure, but I can't stand the hands. Sure, I like the hand articulation, but getting him to hold onto the gun is difficult. Short Fuze has a great mortar set, but he has Dusty's gun. Also, what is up with Beachhead having an AK-47 and giving the Cobra Soldier an M-16? It's like a bad mismatch job by someone who doesn't know the brand or care what they are doing. Plus, why, oh why must every time they make a Cobra Soldier - going all the way back to Hall of Fame series, must they use a Joe helmet that is painted blue. Hasbro, please make a new sculpt of the helmet based on the 3 3/4" figures. Sideshow did a variation that is unique. I wouldn't even mind a Resolute style helmet instead. Flint should have Bazooka's pants and vice versa.
I know, small details, but I know how we all love it when Hasbro pays attention to things like that. It says they care. That's the difference between collecting them all vs. getting a few or none. I honestly believe that will a little more effort, they would get the sales. I have seen people at ToysRUs in the Joe section when I have been there, picking up the 12" figures, looking them over and putting them back. It caught their eyes, they picked it up, but some of the figures like Torpedo just look cheap. IF Hasbro would turn it up a notch, I think they would be successful with their 12" line. I would also like to see new, unique gear and accessories, not just the same stuff over and over and over again. Some of the new 12" figures do have great head sculpts. I have to give Hasbro some major points there. They really did a great job with some of those head sculpts. Overall, the new 12" figures are some of the best 12" figures Hasbro has made in the past 15 years.
I got the Sideshow Snake Eyes and was pleased. Notice I said "pleased". Not thrilled or wowed, just pleased. It's a good figure, but not worth having Sideshow paying Hasbro the branding fee that makes the figure cost $120.00. I have seen outstanding figures that are currently out from other companies with great accessories and articulation for around $75.00. That is perfect deal for me.
I think with some improvements to articulation and giving them extra gear (more grenades, ammo pouches, ect.) that they could sell them to both collectors and kids and keep them in that comfortable $20.00 range.
