I went out to the Kmart by my house, and I saw a young couple(about 26) looking at the wrestling figures for their neffews for Christmas. I said, "Those wrestlers are pretty cool. But what about gi joe?" I then showed them a few of the comic packs and said, "Not only do the two brothers get two comics which helps promote literacy, but they also get two figures!" and guess what; It worked, they bought the kids two packs of the figures. I recommended Snake Eyes vs Storm Shadow.
Then I went to Target since I had to go Christmas shopping at the mall. I asked the store clerk to look in the back for the gi joes and she brought out a wave 11 case which was in the back. I had two joes in tow to trade in and scored an extra Eel & Matt Trakker. I opened the case and put the figures on the rack for her. It was the wave 11 revision cases with Wraith. As I was putting the figures up. A little kid of seven years old and his Mom came in looking for wrestling figures. I showed him the Wraith figure and said, "Doesn't that figure look so cool? Way better than those wrestlers." He asked his Mom if he could have it and she said yes. Then they left the toy aisle while I stocked the rest of the figures. The Wraith was the last figure I put on the shelf. The little kid came back and he decided he wanted the Wraith. I took it off the shelf and gave it to him. He said thank you. I told him, "Wraith is a fun figure to play with, but be careful with those arms." And that was it. I got two kids into gi joe and I got to stock the shelves at Target, which is always an interesting thing. Anyone else suceeded in converting kids to gi joe? |

If they could be turned, they would be powerful allies... can it be done? (sorry wasting time that should be spent finishing my final assignment for the semester ciao).

Nope, can't say that I have ever tempted a child in the toy aisel with Joes. I've never even see a kid looking at Joes... Come to think of it, when I hit the store....as they open in the morning.... I never see anyone is the toy aisles apart from scalpers making their rounds trying to score some hot figures or Hot Wheels...

No I haven’t. Well my son but that doesn't count.
I saw a guy in his mid to late 20's and he had the Target UBP in his hands. I said "The GI Joe battle Pack huh?" he looked at me kind of blankly and said "yeah” I said "that’s a great pack, a bit expensive but you get a lot of great things" he looked kind of confused and just smiled and nodded his head. That’s when I noticed he had a bunch of non Joe toys piled on top of the UBP. He wasn't a Joe collector like I first thought. He was just some guy buying toys for kids probably for Christmas. It was cool to know that some kid somewhere was going to wake up on Christmas morning to find that GI Joe Ultimate Battle Pack under his Christmas tree. He is going to be one happy kid. |
