Now Back to GI Joe! hmm I'm certain I had mono-lingual cards, now-adays walmart sometimes slips some US shipments into the canadian stores (as recently as a month ago)... so maybe this happened in Wolco, this is Alberta so no one will call them on it... really.

I still think all GI Joes should be Americans, however, I would like to see other groups from around the world added to the toy line to fight Cobra with the Joes. |

I'm not sure if this is going to answer yor concern but I'm from Argentina and sice I saw the intro of the movie when I was a kid my dream was to go to the Statue of Liberty and happily that dream was fulfilled in February of 2001 and believe it was my best birthday gift ever. I've been there 3 times (1989, 2001 and 2003) but I only know some places at Florida (Miami, Orlando-Disney-Universal Studios, Palm Beach, Key West, Boca Raton) and New York.
I really like the US and I'm really looking forward for a 4th trip and I must visit New York again because I really love that city. I also think the US Flag is the best flag ever.

I don't think Roadblocks was changed, but it wouldn't have been out of the realm of possibility. as for crunch berries, we got the seasonal ones. red/green. but it's not the same. But don't get me started on your peanut butter crunch. I'd give up my first born son to be able to buy that at my grocery store.

Personally, I've always found the line my favorite from age 4. The "real AMERICAN hero" thing always bugged me a tad, but hey, you're are closest neighbours and oldest allies so I generally have no problem with it (though I still maintain Snake Eyes is really Canadian).
Overall, the only gripes I have are with Hasbro, not Joe. Back in the 80s they made the cards bilingual and kept the art on the front and filecards on the back. Now, they've got Spanish? and a generic card front? and folded paper file cards??? WTF??? And its not just Joe, its Star Wars and Transformers too. Then they won't let us order Doc (btw thanks to those who've offered him for trade here and elsewhere, I appreciate the help) and make numerous Target exclusives that are unavailable in Canada. Thats just irritating and plain stupid. Its cutting off a pretty large market, and things here never sit on the shelf (well, except Wave 1 vehicles lately). Would it really cost Hasbro a lot of money to give us proper cards for all the figures? I doubt it. Returning to G.I. Joe itself, it is based (loosely) on the American army, and so I respect that. It also has similarities to Canadian Peace-keeping forces and our role in the World Wars. I just wish they'd throw in a few more people born outside the USA. Otherwise, the Joes themselves are prefect. |

The aspect of where they were from didn't come in to play with me. I mean I didn't care as they were just "Rad army guys with guns"
Darth Hennig, the folded paper filecards has been happening for 8 years.

I think that Back-Stop, the Persuader driver, is Canadian. I had it when I was a kid and remimber that standing out to me.

That would makes sense...a bit stereo-typical but it makes sense. Can anyone check on that? The hockey playing GI JOE being from Canada...we need a soccer playing GI JOE from Brasil now...
