I can understand how it might sound like we were saying that, but that wasn't the intention. I (and I believe the others) meant that Cobra is much more dedicated to this game and to winning than the Joe team is able to be. Perhaps because there are more long-time players, perhaps because you guys have more time, or perhaps something completely different.
But the main point of the game is to have fun, and while the Joes were willing to continue after losing close battles, being whipped by over 100hp would be a little too much for a lot of people. Winning is definitely part of the game (thats the nature of any game) but a slaughter is unnecessary to perpetuate. Thing is the point handicap as it stands is a great idea, but isn't as effective as Pyro intended it to be. The team that does post everyday, should indeed not be penalized for it, but equally, a team that does fall behind for whatever reason shouldn't be handicapped with no possibility of ever winning either. As things stand with the ranks, there is next to no hope for the Joes to win. A change in health point allocation, or damage, or whatever pyro comes up with would rectify this to keep the game competitive. It was universally agreed that the last game was the best yet and it was (as far as I know) the closest ever. Therefore, some measures to prevent one team from falling into such a deep hole should be put into place. Anyways that's my two cents. Quote:
I will be good with doing it either way as long as we all understand that is not going to be a replacement for anything Pyro has done. I think the easiest way to get started right away is to make the adjustments suggested by Swafus and use the same basic rule set that we have been using. The sooner we start, the less interest gets lost.

Is it just the rosters that are holding us up?
Is there something I can do to speed it up? The sooner the better and i already had it all figured out last night. Let me know if you need anything.

Regardless I am still upset with how this whole thing ended up. Still venting. Last edited by Lody; 03-10-2009 at 04:13 PM.. |

I just read through and if we reset the ranks AGAIN, then I am not going to continue playing.
Call me out whatever you want but it is MY personality that I like: 1. To see my team win 2. To advance myself within the game 3. See a tight game that either side can win (but I still want my team to win, human nature) I have posted and participated everday with very few exceptions and am proud to see that I have such a high rank. To lose it for I think the third time now because we need to "even out the game" means that at some point, we will have to do it AGAIN. |

I also saw a post about preventing the the oher team from falling into a deep hole. Correct me if I am wrong, but itsn't that why we went with the ridiculous re-set time because the other team was unable to handle a 11 PM Shock and Awe and we didn't want that to happen in this game again?

I think its either a better chemistry right now or maybe the evil-doer mentality. Mwahahhhhhahhh

Oh, and you took Shaft. I think the Joe unit was too busy drinking RUM and handing $1s to strippers...

We adjust as needed to keep it fun, because that is the ONLY reason for this game. The last battle was epic. Probably one of the best of all time and I have been here since the beginning. Losing such a close battle was hard on the Joe team I am sure, but does that mean that the game is broken?
The new version will be incredible for a time just like this one was, but eventually some will become dissatisfied with it. It happens every time. Pyroclasm has worked hard on this game to make it fun for everyone. Of course we all want to win, but hey there is only one Cobra. If there are concerns about the development of the new version, they should be addressed in the War Council thread so that they can be taken into consideration. If problems are brought up, please pose possible solutions as well. Somehow, how the ranks worked after that game put Cobra hugely ahead in a position where Joe couldn't even be close, and therefore demoralized the Joes, and didn't provide any challenge for Cobra. How that's fun for either team I don't know. Quote:

Similarly, I don't think that anyone wants to loose their rank points. There just needs to be a way to fiddle with HP allotment or something to allow lower ranked teams some chance of competing with older players, otherwise there's no reason for newer players to join the game, and it will be left with the older dedicated Cobras only. Which kinda defeats the point of a GAME. Quote:
Lody, I absolutely agree with everything you said in your last 3 comments. This game takes a lot of dedication. I play not for the fun of it (sorry all). I play to advance my rank and to kick clown asses. I get pissed when losing and I love when winning. I don't care if its a slaughterhouse I'd keep killing the Joes till they're all dead (who cares if over 100 points) and if I were on the losing end I would keep fighting no matter how uneven it was. I don't care if I'm down by 200 HPs I'd keep battling. I guess thats the difference between a Cobra and a Joe. Maybe that's the missing ingredient needed to put together a winning team. Players that play because they just want to advance and get HP and beat down others. If you play for the recreation maybe you're less likely to post every day.
