I was checking out yojoe the other day and I was looking at all the figures and vehicles that have been made. It's alot. I started thinking to myself, if all this stuff actually get's remade in the next 10 years, will I get it all. So, how about ya'll.... would you get it ALL?

I'd get most of it, and the stuff that I don't get I'll have gotten enough with the troops to make up for it.
I started troop building and get 90% of the stuff that comes out. /sigh Anyone want to rob a bank with me?

I like the stuff from 82 - 87 some here and there from the next year or so ... not to crazy about the colorful vehicles or characters ... But I would buy everything from those years ... without a doubt !!!

Hmmmm, if they keep this pace up it would be a matter of a few years to re-make everything. right now I am all in but there are external factors that would impact what I'll do in the long run i.e. space, cost etc. For me between 82 and 90 would be a definite, but after that it would be hit and miss...

I won't buy all of it.
I'll buy all the figures from 1982-1983. I'll buy most, but not all figures from 1984-1986. I'll be very selective for all figures from 1987-1990 and avoid most neon colors with only a handful of exceptions in the neon department. I start to get extremely selective for 1991+ figures and will not get any neon colored figures from this era no matter what. Last edited by synthalus; 11-26-2008 at 02:58 PM.. |

The other day I found the Ultimate Battle Pack and passed on it. I looked at the price, about $66.77 after tax, and then I thought; "And why do I want this? Is it for the HISS Driver and Cobra Commander I already have? The Destro I already have minus the silver head? Another Cobra Trooper in different colors? A red HISS? Blue Trouble Bubble? A repainted Steeler I already have? The crappy Short-Fuze with Doc head? Or is it for the MOBAT, the only thing of iconic value, though it just doesn't look as interesting as I thought it would?
I know the MOBAT is a re-tool of an early Joe classic, but I just couldn't buy it. Since I've discovered BBI and Forces of Valor and 21st Century Toys, this tank just doesn't stand up anymore, and from here on out I'm re-evaluating my collecting wants. There's no need for me to be a completist and some of the figures just aren't up to par nor do they all represent GI Joe for me, like Matt Tracker. I hope the people who want the UBP, get it and enjoy it. But I'm just not passionate about it. I've realized that I got caught up in the must-get-it-cause-it's-GI-Joe craze, but have decided to stick with what I really want: the core classic figures and some of my later favorites like Big Ben, Bull Horn, etc. But if they are poorly done, like Short-Fuze or Steeler--and yes I know the RAH ones were never that unique--I'm not gonna go there because I'll just be disappointed. Here's what I'm excited about: Airborne and Eel, Alpine, Recondo, Blowtorch, Zap (unless he's way off the mark), Tunnel Rat, Shockwave, Outback, Dr Mindbender and even Chuckles. Hoping for Rip Cord, Low-Light, Leatherneck, Footloose, Dial-Tone, Claymore, Hit N Run, Repeater, Big Ben, Bull Horn and Cover Girl. Oh and I have a special request for Tiger Force Outback.

I just hope we get a nice selection of early 90's figures before this line wraps up. I really want Cesspool, Toxo Zombie, Headman, Headhunters, and of course a Septic Tank.

I'd buy everything reproduced from the years 1982-1985 no question. I'd probably do the same for anything 1986-1988. Then after that I'd be selective. The way I see it if Hasbro can re-do 99% of the original Star Wars Kenner line of figures and vehicles chances are over the next few years we'll see a bulk of the Joe stuff re-done.....if the line lasts that long. I have my doubs....it's a fickle economy now and I'm seeing an awful lot of product not moving.
