the reason i love collecting joes is because its fun!!! but really mabe its because some of this stuff i never had as a kid and now that im older and have my own money its cool to get it. i started collecting joes when i gave up partying, the whole getting smashed with your friends thing got old and i was really tired of the lifestyle, so since i alweys loved comics and toys, i figured i would focus all my energy on that instead. ive been sobre for almost 2 years and never been more happy. theres something special about the joe/toy community and collecting toys. ive met some of the greatest most genuwine people threw collecting toys and have a lot of great friends now because of it and i wouldnt trade it for the world.
i dont think you can ever be too old to collect toys. i think even as i get older theres a part of me that still feels like a kid and its just awsome to collect.

My wife has asked me the same thing. At first she didn't understand when i told her that it reminded me of when i was young and had the opportunity to buy these. Even though now is nothing like when i bought these back in the 80's. There was no internet orders like today. There was only retail stores and they always had stuff. I could walk a few blocks to a department store called Serenets and buy these all the time. Now i have to be there at certain times and with work and family, that can be tough. I guess the best reason i am buying these is so that my son can have somewhat of the same experiences i had growing up when he gets old enough to have these. I want him to be able to come home and watch the cartoon and pull out his favorite figures and play during the episodes like i did. I want him to be able to drive his mom nuts like i did by asking and talking about it all of the time. I want to be able to share all of these experiences with my son...

I love making dioramas with JOEs and Star Wars figures! It's just so much fun and the figures are just so awesome! Of course I love the 80's total action flicks too. Rambo! Predator! Aliens!

For me it was I never had these Joes as a Kid and nvyd every kid that had them... Now that I make a little money and stopped working on my Show Car, Joe Madness has taken over..... I love poassing them and setting them up...that the fun for me.... I also starting getting into Customizing for a little bit, and that was loads of fun..... I have to say I am a pretty normal guy, but the Collecting is just made me a kid all over again.

Nostalgia and sentimental reasons for me. I only got back into GI Joe last year because of the updated figures.

my wife doesnt mind that i collect, she just doesnt care for the money part of it, just like everyone else on here, i had them as a kid, A LOT OF THEM, they were all i did, come home from school and play, these guys were my best friends, then of course, get older girls come into the picture and all the toys are packed away, i always intended to keep them all (and i did) for if i ever had kids, and i did, waited until they were old enough...and bam...the 25th line started, they have all of them, from the 5 packs to wave12....but...doing all this hunting for them has also hooked me back on the stuff...i only collect single cards (besides tomax&xamot) on an entire wall.....i love being a kid again/still,
and i dont think she minds, because its something that will connect me and my boys forever |
