I'm Wondering If These Figures We ENJOY Are Going To Be Worth Anything...say ...when My Son Is Older, IS The Next Generation GOING TO HAVE THE SLIGHTEST INTEREST IN THESE VINTAGE TOYS. I Don't See Any Kids Buying These Figs Ever???and There Is No New Cartoon Supporting These 3 3/4 Action Figures.what Are Your Thoughts? ALL I SEE IS PEOPLE FROM THE 80'S GENERATION, LATE 20ISH, 30 SOMETHING DUDES REALLY ON THIS STUFF AND ON THE BOARDS. THE PRICE OF THE AFA STUFF I THINK RIGHT NOW IS THE TOP OF THE MARKET ON THE PRICING OF THAT STUFF, I DON'T BELIEVE IT WILL EVER GO ANY HIGHER, THE 80'S KIDS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO WILL EVER PAY THOSE RIDICULOUS PRICES

My thoughts are that with the new movie coming out, there's a chance GI Joe could be popular again in a HUGE way, just like Transformers did. The reason you're not seeing kids buy them is that there're not on the pegs long enough for kids to notice them. Transformers was a bit the same way. Once the movie gets closer, expect alot of promotion and push from Paramount and Hasbro, and I bet Joes go big again. I also think you capitalize far too often. ;)

though I have to say I am 30, and I love the sigma 6/commando line, I also buy the 3 3/4 line mainly for nostalgia reasons. But I too never see any kids buy them. They really just walk right past the joes to the ninja turtles, or power rangers. For years I bought Transformers, and always saw kids nagging thier parents for them. And after the TF movie, there were even more fellows my age and more kids wanting the TF toys. The joe movie may bring some popularity to the line, but I really don't think its going to be all that much. Sadly.

A cartoon will really open it up again. Maybe G.I.Joe will get a cartoon make-over like Transformers is getting once the movie hits (they would be crazy not to do it) If done right that could give the 3 3/4 line years and years of life (loved the Sigma 6 line, but that cartoon was... well, not to my taste) It feels like Hasbro is ramping up the 3 3/4 line in a big way! (and really, it never has really gone away... it just hasn't been this cool in a while)

I doubt this stuff will be monetarily worth much. The thing is today there are "collectors" everywhere. The reason a lot of the old stuff (I'm talking GI Joe and Star Wars) is worth so much is because nobody really thought of keeping stuff closed to resell at a higher price later. Now it's a pretty normal routine.
This stuff is worth the most when it first hits and the "gotta have it now" people rush to ebay. To me the smile I get on my face when I open up that sweet new Stalker and remembering back to when I got the original in Shreveport LA, when I was just a little amazing, is worth far more than the cash value these will ever have. |
