so i sold this guy some figures on november 5th threw ebay and he didnt pay me untill november 11th, and i sent his package out the 13th, and he already filed a dispute against me on paypal and did not even try to contact me threw ebay first, well paypal took the amount of money he paid me out of my account and has a freeze on it. ive had a dispute before but i never had paypal hold the amount the buyer paid me before, is this some kind of new thing they are doing? well anyway im pissed because for one it hasnt even been a week and this guy is already filing a dispute?!?!?!? this is the craziest Bull crap anyone has ever pulled on me.
anyway i wrote the buyer and asked him why for one he hasnt tried to contact me first before fieling a dispute and second is he on some kind of speed racer planet where his mail comes to him overnite or something. im super angry right now and i seriously think im done selling on ebay. ebay is screwing sellers over letting buyers pull too much crap on us and im sick of it. paypal sucks and ebay sucks. i hope they both go down burning in flames. im done ranting...

That is nuts. I don't even know what to say or what to tell you, I’m at a loss for words. If that’s how they handle things there, I would think no transactions would be taking place because everyone’s accounts would be frozen because of stupid non-incidents like yours.

maybe they are intentionally trying to flop out. Maybe they are pulling an Enron. i mean these new rules they implemented are like they are intentionally trying to kill their business. The whole site is based on selling you items, thats the key source of revenue, but they are making it so you pretty much cant sell anything anymore? And they are laying thousands of people off now, making you only be able to pay with paypal which is owned by ebay. Something just seems fishy. I wouldnt be surprised if within the next 2 years or so some shit goes down with ebay.

Paypal placing a hold on disputed funds is nothing new. They've always done it, but up until their new policies took effect early this fall, it wasn't all that commonplace.
Now, what they are trying to do is immediately put a hold on just about any disputed transaction at all. The reason for this I suspect is to cut down on the slash and burn tactics of some rip-off artists, where they sell a lot of items they don't have (say Temple of Doom Indy figures), accept the payments then empty the account and bail. When this happens, most of the time Paypal is left holding the bag on replacing those funds for the buyer. While the new policies do suck for the honest seller, it's going to be better in the long run to weed out the bad sellers. The thing to remember to protect yourself in a case like this where the buyer is the issue, is to always ship to the Paypal registered and confirmed address, mail in a timely manner and to always slap a Delivery Confirmation number on the items your shipping. For overseas shipping, Global Express Mail is the only way to go. Your buyers will bitch because of the cost, but it is the only way you can prove that an item was received by an overseas buyer. Also, if your item sell for more than $250, it becomes mandatory with Paypal that you add signature confirmation to the items you shipping. I've been selling using Paypal for about 10 years now, and these tips are all hard won at the expense of several times being out of pocket on lost or broken items. Hopefully they can save you some money and piece of mind in the long run. Addendum: One of the major changes that affected me, is to the "item not as described" dispute. With regards to custom made items (which are in the majority what I sell) this no longer applies as it used to. If someone buys a blue hemet from me, and I ship them that helmet in blue, but it's not the exact shade of blue that appeared pictured, then they can no longer file a complaint and expect to recieve a refund. Personally I always try to make sure that things are as they appear, but on something like this where monitor color or photo size might be an impediment, there is no longer any off-hand consequences. When I was unloading some stuff on ebay, I went through 74 smooth, problem free transactions. Then my last three items... I had already planned on them being my last sales due to the changes in fees and the implementation of the "stroke the buyer / screw the seller" policy. I had a non paying buyer, had to file a dispute. A buyer claiming the item never arrived (but my delivery confirmation called him out and he finally admited it was his mistake, yeah he got the item) and another one I don't even remember the details. All the way to the end it was good times then crapola. I keep thinking about selling some more stuff but when I do the numbers and consider the "pain in the butt" factor I reconsider.
I hope you get things resolved soon!
