Since several figures have been produced that have been stated in the Q/A's in the past that we will never see, do you think that the Hasbro guys are purposefully giving false leads to keep the line surprising and interesting?

Someone mentioned yesterday that usually their answers only apply for about a 6 month period. Beyond that they may not be able to say!

basically, you have to re-read the answers a few times and interpret what they are saying.
Their typical answer will be something like "We'll look into that", "Currently, no plans for that", "No plans for the first half of 2008" They said Cutter was not planned back in December, but it looks like they found a way to use a repaint exclusive to get him to us (Possibly because of the question asked about him) Also something of note is that they were getting multiple questions about "cartoon packs" back in December as well. Hasbro thought it was a great idea and said nothing else about it. |

It's stupid to expect Hasbro to give exact answers to questions like "will we see so and so". I'm sure they have an order of figures being produced, but sometimes that order gets changed.
And even if the order was concrete, it would be stupid of them to say "Yes, so and so in wave 12, so and so in wave 14 and you absolutely will not see so and so". That's just bad marketing. I hate that Q&A questions get wasted on questions like that. And some things are also based on sales. Take the TRU SRO 3-packs. Hasbro won't commit to a 2nd wave of those until they find out how the first wave sells. They have everything set up for the 2nd wave (what figures, molds, etc..) but there's no definate plans they will be doing it. So they have a Cutter all set. But it's not definate that SRO Sea 3-pack will ever see the light of day. So a questions is asked "Will we see Cutter". Do they answer "Yes" because they have one all ready to go but not sure if it will get released. Or do they go with the "safer" answer of "No" or "Not yet" because there's a good chance it won't get made and if it does, then it's a surprise to the fans. Also, maybe there was another figure planned for the 3-pack, but after the Q&A reveled all disappointed people were that there was no Cutter, then they changed their plans and added Cutter. The other problem is that say they answer "yes" and something goes wrong in production. Now they can't get that figure produced and fans that are waiting for that exact figure are disappointed and pissed. So unless it's 90% certain the figure is coming, then the best answer to give is "no". So it's a waste of a Q&A question.

I remember there was Q&A about a year ago where somebody asked if Footloose would be made and there answer was, "How about Alpine and Bazooka"? This came out of left field and was the first time we had heard anything regarding those two being made. So sometimes some good info does come out. The last Q&A also had a question about Low-Light and the answer was one of those "not right now or he's on the drawing board" answers that usually ends up meaning he is going to be made in the next year.
Also, here's a kind of unsaid rule in these Q&A (and it doesn't always apply), just add the words "in the next year" to all of their answers and it usually is the real answer.

Yes. They let us ask questions, and then lie to us purposefully to throw us off the scent, only to reveal they were in fact planning on releasing what we asked for.
