What secrets lurk in the filecards?
 

So the older filecards are great, they list what military schools the various Joes went to. Later filecards, not so much. But some interesting/fun information can still be learned from reading them.

What fun/interesting/strange things have you learned from reading the filecards?

1 - Scarlett is a sniper. She attended and graduated the Marine Sniper School. That's pretty cool. Makes her even more of a bad-ass. I've ordered up a sniper rifle from marauders for her. Until, and maybe even after, we get a Low-Light or Cross Hair, Scarlett is my sniper.

2 - Mutt is a jungle trooper. He attended and graduated Jungle Warfare Training (was even a teacher there). To get to Jungle Warfare Training you have to be a Ranger. So Mutt is a Ranger and as the same qualifications as Recondo. That just begs for a Tiger Force Mutt. So Mutt is much more then a Dog Handler.

Stalker is a combat medic.

There is a Tiger Force Mutt - 2006 convention special edition figure. Also produced were Tiger Force Beachhead, Tiger Force Hard Top, and Tiger Force Zartan/Hawk.

Lady Jaye is an interesting case. She did her Masters degree at Trinity College in Ireland and she speaks with a bit of an Irish lilt... no wonder Flint fell for her right away.

I suppose the birthplaces always sort of surprise me. There are a ton of Joes from Rhode Island - A TON. I know it's where Hasbro is, but there are states that have only one Joe, and it would be nice to share a little bit. I suppose I'm biased in that regard.

Intersting, I think it's funny what's left out of Flint's file card. For as much is made out of his Rhodes scholarship, the Rhodes scholarship is about doing graduate work in England at Oxford University. What's not explained is where Flint earned his undergraduate degree. He obviously didn't go to West Point, or he'd be a commisioned Officer - an LT or above. Rhodes Scholarships are hard to come by, but you don't have to go to an Ivy League School. The University of Mississippi has produced 24 Rhodes Scholars, for example. The University of Tennessee has produced 6.
This wouldn't be so abnormal, but they do mention where other Joes have gone to school if their educations were noteworthy: Lady jaye at Brwn Myer, Claymore at Dartmouth, etc. To make so much of Flint's schooling, and then not to mention his alma mater seems odd to me.
Somehow, I've always liked to think of him as a Duke man. It's close to Special Forces HQ at Ft. Bragg, it's on par with a lot of Ivy League Schools. I'm sure some tar heels will disagree, but I've got no hatred for UNC. It just seems to fit Flint's personality and Duke does produce a fair number of Rhode Scholars and has a broad appeal nationally.

I like the fact that Bazooka was a tank driver before he became a tank killer. The Joes need more tracked-armor operators. Also, many seem to forget that stalker is also a medic, as well as Falcon. Medics don't get much love, though they're a critical element of any platoon.

What does the X. stand for in Delgado, Hector X.?

I think the strangest filecard was Recoil's where it said he was marathon runner and body builder, why then would he join GI Joe and be one of the smaller (physically) members?

i thought it was "for nothing" as in, no middle name.

Maybe he became a marathon runner after the bodybuilding stint and that's why he's so puny now.

I've always liked Wild Card(the Mean Dog driver)'s filecard. First, for his "unnatural" ability to break things. This is a guy who you'd never want in your own home! I loved how the Joes could take that weakness, and turn it into a positive trait.

But more than that, the most surprising thing is that Wild Card is the only Joe whose secondary military speciality is being a Chaplain's Assistant.
