I don't think Marines have a SWAT negotiator MOS, but I doubt any do. I imagine in the case of your SWAT negotiator Xsoldier he's just one of the more senior men in his unit?
Yeah Oliver it's the Intervention Specialist thing that does it for me. But The HRT training gets done at Quantico too so that explains his Rank better as he would be an officer if he were FBI. Plus there is the fact that it never mentions FBI anywhere on his filecard. Of Course V2 does: YOJOE.COM | Filecard Gallery - Bullhorn (version two) and now he's an 88M so that means Army. |

Ah, thanks Loose. It never occurred to me that there might be a v2 of Bullhorn with a more detailed filecard with regards to his training background.

Keep in mind though that Bullhorn's V2 filecard was written (I assume) by the Collector's Club since he was part of their convention set. And was probably altered and changed to make him fit in with the SWAT theme of the set.

I use him to lead the Rangers because of the cartoon and Blackhawk Down. From the cartoon it seemed like he was always working with new recruits and was kind of at the first level of command under Hawk, Duke, Flint, and Slaughter. Also, watching Blackhawk Down, it seems like the younger Rangers look up to and try to emulate the more experienced Delta guys. There's the scene where Eric Bana and a few of the Rangers fight their way to the crash site on foot. That's kind of what I was going for. Some of the newer figures seem younger to me, so putting them on teams with Stalker and Beachhead as the first level of command seemed like a sound set up. I can see them being some of the most respected Joes and the younger guys would and should emulate them. Also my set up is a little jerry rigged together due to a lack of some key figures, but with the figures I have available, this seemed like the best set up to me. I don't have enough Green Berets to set them aside on their own and if Stalker becomes a Green Beret I may have to do that. That would leave a serious gap in my Ranger leadership. Hopefully I can figure out who my "Sgt Eversman" is and can bump Beachhead out to where he belongs once I get my hands on enough figures.

also specifically says Ranger on Stalker's and Sidetrack V2. And even though it doesnt say so on his filecard I consider Repeater a Ranger based on the Ranger Tab on his hat (like Mainframe being a Marine by virtue of his headgear) |

Well, equivalency is a tricky thing. The GS system is roughly analogous to the military pay grade system, but it's not an exact science. However, when a GS employee (like a C.I.A. Officer, for example) works with the military they are treated as an Officer.
FBI Agents start off at about GS 10 or 11. That's more than equivalent to a military officer, and it should be: FBI Agents are college educated, they go through extensive selection and training, and they often have graduate degrees like Law or Business. Sure Fire is CID - that's Military. His rank makes sense. Bullet Proof is a U.S. Marshall, his rank (O-4) has to sort of honorary or equivalent based on the GS system. He's probably like a GS 12 or 13. If Bullhorn were FBI, he would be of similar rank in the GS system and would be an officer in the Joe Team. My opinion is that he's not FBI at all. He's an enlisted Marine. I just had an FAA inspector on my jumpseat today and he was asking if I had any interest in becoming an inspector. He said they start out making 70,000 I think and then over 90,000 in a couple years. He said he was a GS 13 paygrade, which I thought was high but I don't know what the numbers really mean, relative to the military. |

None that I know of. The closest I can think of is the SRT (Special Reaction Team) Member MOS (MOS 5816), and you'd need to be a MOS-qualified MP first before getting into SRT. Alternatively, there's MOS 8152 (Marine Corps Security Force Guard) which is the MOS given to members of the FAST (Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team) units. It's open to any Marine who's graduated from the School of Infantry. But the FAST units aren't really SWAT-type units. They're more like infantry who specialize in CQB and physical security.

Federal Bureau of Investigation The FBI has its own hand-to-hand training program, but as far as I know, they are now teaching the same standardized hand-to-hand combat system developed at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center)'s Physical Techniques Division, called the Law Enforcement Control Tactics Program. They'll ocassionally have knife/counter-knife seminars at FLETC, too. Quote:
I think a later version of Beach Head came with a filecard that listed him as receiving Special Forces training. Can't remember for sure, though. |
