Oh, and another thing... I've been trying to figure out the names of the original Fury Force characters from the substandard scans of Hama's early artwork. So far, I can make out that the original name for Snake-Eyes was Spook, Hawk was Sgt. Fury, Steeler was Steeler, Scarlett was Lilah (Lilian?) Gaul (Saul?), Stalker was Jelly, and Tunnel Rat was Louie Louie. I can't make out the original name for Leatherneck... I've seen some archived posts saying it's "Bri Jo" but that doesn't make sense... it seems more like "Brujo" (Spanish for "Warlock" or "Sorcerer") to me. Anybody have access to a better scan of the old Fury Force character sheet can confirm or dispel these for me? Last edited by zuludelta; 10-28-2009 at 01:11 AM.. |

The short answer is: No, but we all think he should be a Green Beret. His skills would certainly work with Special Forces - Urban Warfare experience with the gangs, Infantry, Airborne, Ranger, Medic, Languages. He's probably a sharp-shooter, and I wouldn't want to fight him hand-to-hand. However, despite all his training, there is no evidence in the continuity that he's more than a LRRP trained Ranger. No evidence of Special Forces qualification.

Yeah, ok I'm with you on that, I just tossed it out there because we (you guys actually, I was just reading along) were trying to confirm Snake Eyes real name using Snake Eyes Declassified. That's what got me looking into the Declassified stuff on yojoe. I notice that part is not mentioned on her bio page, so this was just a case of me posting before doing the required research.
Looking at it more closely now, the different training she had prior to GI Joes would not have allowed her time to pick up something like CSI with the FBI. That's years worth of schooling and training, so obviously she's out as being FBI. Have we confirmed Stalker as a Green Beret yet? He's got the skills, but I can't find anything that might suggest he's a Green Beret other then the qualifications like medic and language skills mentioned on his file card. I think that a Ranger on LRRP in Vietnam would have just as much use for those skills as a Green Beret. What did you guys decide to do with Stalker?

Well, Stalker isn't a Green Beret, but Beach-Head is.

How so (with regards to an FBI agent becoming an officer)? If Bullhorn doesn't go through OCS going into the Corps, wouldn't that mean that he'd be an enlisted Marine? Or is there some sort of equivalency in play with interdepartmental transfers? I know there are rules that allow for interservice transfers resulting in equivalency/rank retention (particularly between the Navy and the Coast Guard and to a lesser extent the Army and the Marines), so is there something similar between the DoD and the DoJ?
FBI Agents start off at about GS 10 or 11. That's more than equivalent to a military officer, and it should be: FBI Agents are college educated, they go through extensive selection and training, and they often have graduate degrees like Law or Business. Sure Fire is CID - that's Military. His rank makes sense. Bullet Proof is a U.S. Marshall, his rank (O-4) has to sort of honorary or equivalent based on the GS system. He's probably like a GS 12 or 13. If Bullhorn were FBI, he would be of similar rank in the GS system and would be an officer in the Joe Team. My opinion is that he's not FBI at all. He's an enlisted Marine.

I always figured his Hostage Negotiation background was meant to mean FBI. Plus his Pistol Title line makes me think FBI. If he were a Marine he would be a pistol expert. But like Bulletproof he should be an officer. And if he were stationed there as a Marine he could be an Officer also. It's just for training so who is really stationed there? Well he could very likely be a hand to hand trainer on the base. Although the Captain bars on is figure make you wonder? |

Wouldn't negotiating be an advanced course and require specialized training? Would it really be an enlisted man's thing?

So that could mean that Bull-Horn is FBI.
