I know you addressed the question to Tyroc, but here's my input regardless
Tatiana Zerjal of Oxford University did a genetic study a few years back that traced Genghis Khan's descendants. Genghis (and his linear descendants) did a lot of pillaging and marrying and raping during the course of the Mongol Empire's existence, and what Zerjal found is that that resulted in a lot of the modern Eurasian population sharing bloodties that can be linked directly to Genghis Khan's family. About 8% of the population from the Asian mainland's Pacific coast to the Caspian Sea bordering the former USSR and the Middle East are direct descendants of Genghis Khan (that's about half a per cent of the world's total population!). That would be a plausible way to tie together the Serpentor's disparate ancestries. Thanks...I love this board |

Any of you guys read the Op-Center series of novels started by Tom Clancy? It seems like a good starting point for a Joe-verse type thing. Basically, "Op-Center" is the code-name for the National Crisis Management Center, a top-secret agency that reports directly to the President. It's headed by a presidential appointee (civilian, naturally) but has a small military special operations arm called the Striker Team (headed by a general) and it also has access to FBI and National Guard assets, allowing it to operate in both international and domestic crisis situations. Sounds like a nice set-up for the Joe team to get around the Posse Comitatus act, and it also creates a place for the Joes who, if we go by their filecards or branch of service, would be more at home with the Department of Homeland Security than with the Department of Defense (guys like Bulletproof and Cutter).

Able to operate domestically and foreign, intelligence and direct action units. Small direct action team that can be supported with a small armor/cavalry unit.

You're welcome. If you want to read the full-text article (with figures and population maps), you can download it from the American Journal of Human Genetics website for free (no registration required):

I'm compiling a list of Joes with a federal law enforcement background. Am I missing anybody?
Also, are there any further explanations of what the Quantico reference in Bullhorn's original filecard allude to? A reference to USMC Base Quantico or to the FBI Academy (also located in Quantico)? I always assumed that it was a hint that he's a former FBI agent (sort of makes sense given the context of his specialty being negotiation/intervention). |
