Based on that article y'all tracked down, it seems like "Robert 'Bob' Light" is as good as it's going to get for a "real" name for Snake-Eyes.
That's weird. I once had a dream about Snake-Eyes real name. I think I was in middle school. I was rereading the comics. This mystery really, really appealed to me. Anyway, I had a dream and in the dream I found out that Snake-Eyes name was "Robert..." and then I woke up. I never heard his last name. But it's funny that Robert was the name in my dream, and the real guy's name was Bob. You know who else was a Ranger in 'Nam with some weird "spooky" stuff in his background? Claymore... makes you wonder if they ever worked together.

Let me ask this... based on what we saw in "Declassified", are we to assume that Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes had exactly the same training, or did Snake-Eyes have much more military training than Storm Shadow? How much training does Stalker have?

No promotions? You'd think he would have at least been an LT by then. Or maybe the little escapade with the bomber kind of prevented that from happening. SS's military training never gets hinted at. It's said he did 2 tours with SE. You'd think they had the same training and anything SE did, SS probably did too.

Yeah, Stalker's lack of promotion is kind of stupid. He should have already been an E-8 or so by then. I use him as a Sergeant Major and leader of the Desert Patrol Squad.

Maybe Mr Hama is intentionally keeping his answers vague so that he doesn't accidentally give away anything that he might have in mind for a future story, be it joe or to be incorporated into another book...like Nth Man. I'd love Marvel to resurrect Nth Man.

Do we really want to know every detail about Snake Eyes? Would SE even be as special as he is if he becomes Bob insted of the man with no name? I think Robert/Bob is a little to generic.

I don't know if I mentioned this before but in Larry Chamber's Recondo book, there's a Huey captain named William Meacham, whom LRRPs referred to as Wild Bill (pg 65). I wonder if William Hardy is a real-life inspiration for Wild Bill or just a fictional name. I suppose a lot of Williams back then were called Wild Bill. |

I think he was with the Phoenix Program, which included MACV-SOG. The whole operation had a lot of Intelligence to deal with, and that seems to fit. It's possible that Snake-Eyes could have gotten tapped for Pheonix, if not for MACV-SOG specifically.
