I'm not doubting what you're saying, but this is really interesting. This is the only extrapolated evidence we have of Snake-Eyes being in Special Forces. Everywhere else, he's always 75th Ranger Regiment LRRP. Stalker, Storm Shadow, Ramon Escabado, Wade Collins... that whole unit was always listed as 75th LRRPs. Interesting that Air Force Pilots did it, but Rangers didn't. That seems weird.

The pilots weren't recon men, they were responsible for the air insertion/extraction, forward air control and aerial recon. The SEALs mostly worked off the coast in Nasty boats. I believe SE started out as a LRRP, but was later recruited by SF, which happened to some LRRPs during the war. His involvement with SOG could also explain his classified file card. It just adds another exciting layer to his character, which I think is highly probable, even with Stalker, who has many SF like skills.
I've been reading web pages written by MACV-SOG vets while I'm posting on this thread. Evidently the SEALs and Force Recon Marines worked together in a Maritime division of SOG. It wasn't exactly the same as what Army Special Forces were doing. However, all the evidence I'm finding supports exactly what you're saying - No Ranger LRRP units in MACV-SOG.

So when would this have happened in the continuity? Didn't Snake-Eyes go home after he was shot? He shows up wounded when he gets home. That last mission was certainly a LRRP mission.

But here's a question we might need to discuss when we have time: What else does the document say? Other than having "MACV-SOG" printed on it, is anything else legible? Alright. I'll be glad to hear your theory when you get back. Talk with you later.

Ever see the movie Spygame? In it, Robert Redford's CIA agent goes and needs a sniper in 'Nam. He's given Brad Pitt's Army character to "use". After this mission, they go their seperate ways (Redford hunts down Pitt to recruit him to the CIA later but that's the extent of their involvment together during 'Nam).
Anyways... What if SE did something like that before the LRRP days with Stalker and SS? He gets "recruited" for a couple of black ops operations and gets his record classified as a result. But it's only a temporary thing which is why he's back with the LRRP.

Oliver's new Claymore/ Magnum custom and another custom I've seen on the Tank recently have got me thinking about recruits for my Joe Seal team.
If you were going to use famous Seals (real or fictional) on your Joe team who would they be? So far I've got some obvious ones in mind- Thomas Magnum Steven Segal's character in Under Siege Bruce Willis' character in Tears of the Sun Seal team from Navy Seals. Charlie Sheen, Michael Biehn etc Richard Marcinko Montell Williams Jesse Ventura Rudy from Survivor Also, what about Marines? Tom Berenger in Sniper R Lee Ermey John Wayne in Sands of Iwo Jima Lee Marvin |

That's an interesting question Topside. I've seen some interesting additions to peoples Joeverses. Tyroc in particular has all kinds of guys, which some I like. I like the Magnum idea myself, but not the rest of the characters. I'd love to have a Rambo figure, and I've renamed ROC Hawk as Col. Trautman. I also have a Dutch custom from Predator.
I guess off your list of SEALs I'm not personally attached to any of them. Although Benchpress really reminds me of Jesse Ventura from Predator. All those Marines are too old. Maybe a Gunny Highway? There don't seem to be too many Marines in the Movies. That being said I don't want to see John Cena either. BTW Montell was a Marine. |

Some more real life Seals- Duncan Smith, founder of Presidio Adventure Racing Academy Scott Helvenston, youngest person to complete Seal training. (he was killed in Fallujah while working for Blackwater) (was on tv show Combat Missions. came across as a real dick, but dont know how much of that was for the cameras) |
