We have a tendency to revisit topics anyway, so it's not like you really need to read all 471 pages.

I know I read in one of the IDW comics that they answered a fan question about Roadblock to Heavy Duty and why Resolute seemed to solve the problem but the toy line has not.
They seem to indicate that it is not solved however. Perhaps there are different rules for different mediums? Hey I don't mind getting new characters. Sometimes the codenames are lame though. I wonder how much money they spend researching names they like to use? Although I would think that Roadblock should not be an issue. It might just be a case of people being overly cautious, too.

Dammit I still want my Roadblock!
I devised a whole plan on how they can straighten out that mess. First they use to tell us it was to stay true the movie character, which in no way resembles the Roadblock I know. So that excuse holds no weight. But I figure in one issue Roadblock can pick up his 50 cal, stand in the middle of the highway and blow apart a Cobra Convoy. Rock'n'Roll can say in surprised amazement, "You stopped that convoy like a human Roadblock!" The name sticks, and Gen Tomahawk pushes the paperwork along with SSG Rock'n'Roll's, to make it official. |

Loose, you know my feelings on the mater - the situation with Roadblock makes me furious. It's one of the biggest disappointments about the new continuity for me.

I think its cool that Strecher was a body builder. Many of the older JOE members have been advanced in rank over the years, especialy in the 1990s.
Duke from E-8 to E-9 Gung Ho from E-7 to E-9 Hawk from O-6 to O-7 to O-8 Snake Eyes from E-5 to E-7 Ace from O-3 to O-4 Stalker from E-5 to E-7 Road Block from E-4 to E-6 Rock N Roll from E-5 to E-7 Flint from E-6 to Warrent Officer Lady Jaye from E-4 to E-6 Personaly I think Ace should be a Colonel now! More appropiately I think Ace should be a Captain in the Navy. After all he flys an F-14 tomcat, off of the USS FLAGG!

Yeah we haven't touched on rank in a while. I've changed mine a few times. I had Duke as a 0-8 Maj General equivalent at one point. But I think Zuludelta has made me reconsider many of them. I sort of follow the DDP's GI Joe ranks they had published in the back of their Battle Files. But mostly I just use the highest grade they got on the filecards.
But from the Top: 0-10 Colton 0-9 Keel Haul; Austin; Sharpe( V12 Hawk) 0-8 Hollingsworth; Flagg; Hawk 0-7 Flagg III; Rey; Payload 0-6 Courage; Trautman(ROC Hawk); Trent; Eagle(V1 Hawk) 0-5 Skystriker; Loose Cannon(me); Surefire; ACE 0-4 Claymore; DUKE; Storm; Ghostrider; Cutter; Action Man; Matt Trakker; Doc; Bullet-Proof; Space Shot; GI Jane; Barrage 0-3 Falcon; Grid-Iron; STEELER; TORPEDO; Maverick; SKYDIVE Countdown; Updraft; Windmill; Pysche-Out; Carla; Rapid-Fire; Gears; Steel-Brigade Commander; Skip; Lt. Stone 0-2 Slipstream; Dogfight; Sub-zero; Super-Trooper; Thunderwing; Barrel-Roll; Breaker; WO-5 Wet-Down CW-4 Wild-Bill; FLINT WO-3 SCARLETT; CHUCKLES WO-2 LADY JAYE; Lift-Ticket; Major Altitude E-9 CSM: Stalker E-9 Sgt Major: Gung-Ho; Mercer; Beachhead; Altitude E-8 Big Brawler; Sgt Slaughter; Shipwreck; Doubleblast; Airwave; Drop-Zone; Snake-Eyes; Blizzard; Shimik; Dojo; Mace (Maybe John Rambo if I ever get a good custom) E-7 This one is just chock full of promotions: GRUNT; Grand-Slam; Rock'n'Roll; ZAP; Snow-Job; Airborne; Roadblock; Recondo; Spirit; Dusty; Tollbooth; Shockwave; Leatherneck; Wet-Suit; Deep-Six; Dodger; SPARKS; Static-Line; Hot-Seat; Long-Range; Lowlight; Cold-Front; Cross-Fire; Mainframe; Outback; Steam-Roller; Starduster; Repeater; T'jbang; Ripcord; Mariner; Tracker; Salvo; Airborne (Six); Well then There are the lower NCOs but I'm tired of looking. I'm sure I missed a few and this doesn't really take into account some custom characters that I have. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 10-08-2009 at 10:54 PM.. |

It depends on how the name is getting used, for one thing - note that DC and Marvel both have characters known as Captain Marvel, which is okay, but that only Marvel can publish a comic book titled Captain Marvel.
It might just be a case of people being overly cautious, too. |

Well this mainly has to do with the fact that Marvel copyrighted the name Captain Marvel while the DC Captain Marvel comics wasn't being printed. Captain Marvel (Marvel Comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia And this is the reason whyany DC Captain Marvel product is called Shazam. But the character is still called Captain Marvel.
Quote:
Following a trial in which DC Comics sued Fawcett Comics for breach of copyright, the latter stopped publishing Captain Marvel.[2] In the late sixties Marvel gained the trademark "Captain Marvel" [emphasis mine] with their first series, forcing DC to call their Captain Marvel comic book Shazam!, but to retain the trademark Marvel had to publish a Captain Marvel title every year or two since leading to a number of ongoing series, limited series and one-shots featuring a range of characters using the Captain Marvel alias.[3]
