I seem to recall a European Missions comic that featured Outback and Psyche Out in Australia taking down the Dreadnoks. I think Psyche Out was supposed to evaluate Outback's fitness for duty, as I gathered he spent a lot of time in the bush away from the rest of the team (and humanity in general).

Fighter pilots like Ace, Slipstream, Ghostrider, etc., I plan on using as aviation combat tactical advisers, leveraging their experience as fighter pilots and using it in an unconventional warfare context by advising friendly governments (and the Joe team's staff) on the use of air power. Giving the Joe team (which I have at the size of a small battalion/large company) its own organic fleet of fixed wing gunships and fighter is just too much of a load, staffing-wise. Giving each one of the "main" GI Joe pilot characters their own fighter would mean something in the neighbourhood of 100 personnel already in terms of maintenance crew, air controllers, logistics personnel, command post systems operators, etc. The people needed to run a fleet of even just 4 fighters would greatly outnumber the number of aviation-themed "named Joes" I have at my disposal. It would be same problem as "giving" the Joes their own ship. Too much trouble to keep track of "support Joes." |

Back to filecards.. for a second.. I was thinking... since the movie decided to make the Joe team more international (Heavy Duty being from the UK) wouldn't it be nice to have some Special Ops soldiers from Australia. Why not make Outback (Aptly Named) and Recondo from Down Under? From what I know about Australia you have to be one hell of a Survivalist to survive in some of their harsh environments. I'd like to add a bit of Aussie Accent to the team with Outback being from Brisbane, Australia, and Recondo from Queenstown, Tasmania. Just a thought.. I'm already making the corrections to my Joe-verse.
A Digger is Oz slang for any soldier. The term dates back to WWI. Outback could be from anywhere in Oz but if I were to choose a birthplace, then I'd probably go with Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. or Coober Pedy, South Australia. I've been thinking of a Aust-NZ spec ops group to complement the joes in the US, Action Force in Europe, Argen 7 and Oktober Guard. I've decided to include Lt Cmdr Mic Brumby from JAG as one of the officers, since I've got a heap of JAG characters in my Joeverse in support roles already. |

Oliver, you've inspired me to build a Steel Brigade squad. We never saw the Hulkbuster Steel Brigade figures here in Oz. At least not in the nation's capital.
Reading how you and Troynos use your squads kept preying on my mind and so I tracked some down on eBay. I'm glad I did, they're awesome figures and they 'play' so well with vintage figs to boot. Still haven't nailed down how I'll use them in my verse but have some ideas. I have 2 of the vintage SB figs and I'm now thinking about tracking down the convention figs. |

Glad Troynos and I could help. Yeah, I really like the Steel Brigade figures. Let me know what you come up with. I'll be interested to hear how you set yours up.
