Since Duke is from St. Louis, it makes sense that he is very German.
As for most of the file names, Hama said (somewhere I can't remember the source) that he took the first and last names from one of his mom's old high school year books and took a first name from this person and a last name from that person and voila. |

Tollbooth is awesome. The bridgelayer kicks major ass. How can anyone not like him?

Well, you live in New York. Obviously you couldn't appreciate Miss Scarlett's Southern culture and heritage. For many of us in the South, Scarlett was like our sister. We knew she was tough - she was one of us.
Or perhaps she wasn't "Elegant" enough for the high society of Brooklyn? |

Damn, I'd never made the connection between Scarlett and her last name of O'Hara. Wow.. that one went right by me....

I'm sorry - you miss read me completely. Just a reference to Gone with the Wind; with it's most famous line addressed to Scarlett O'hara. I never meant impugn anyone's heritage or to imply that the south lacked refinement. Actually I'm certain that antebellum Atlanta's high culture was far more refined than contemporary Brooklyn.

I'm going to post this thought again, though I've posted it many times. I understand the file names are often given in honor of a Hasbro Employee. And I don't have a problem with that at all. However, it would be nice if they could spread the love around when it comes to Places of Birth. A lot of States can only claim one Joe -I know, I'm biased. Mississippi only has one: Roadblock - and Rode Island has a ton of Joes. It's disproportionate to population and geography.
G.I. Joe is not supposed to be: A Real New England Hero (assisted a little by other schmucks from around the rest of the country) I have no problem with New England. I love Boston and New Hampshire and New Jersey. I have cousins in Connecticut and New York. All I'm asking for is a little more equal representation. Before a State gets a third Joe, maybe all the other States should have at least 2 Joes. Roadblock is gone. IDW combined the Character with Heavy Duty and kept the name "Heavy Duty". As it stands currently, there are no Mississippians in G.I. Joe. Perhaps I can offer a suggestion for a character to replace him: Marine Force Recon Officer Code Name: Rebel Rank: 0-6 Place of Birth: Oxford, Mississippi Just a suggestion.

There are at least two Joes from Tennessee. Breaker who is from Gatlinburg in East Tennessee, and Fast-Draw from Cordova, TN. It's interesting because in '87 when Fast-Draw was released, Cordova was a small country town. Now it's a booming suburb of Memphis. If you don't live here, it's probably not interesting. lol

I always though Shipwreck's middle name was a homage to
X. Atencio, the key imagineer/designer of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean - especially since he always made him use the pirate talk. |
