Thanks for the compliment! He was fairly easy to do-I just took some Testor's rust colored paint and used that for his body. His vest I painted flat black. I gave him a Corps! style axe and 25th Falcon's shotgun and that was it. Wish i had a digital camera so I could post pics.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread, so far every thing I've read has been interresting. So I hope this is a new file card secret but the ROC Duke's filecard list Duke as a Major but in the movie Hawk calls Duke a Captain. I did a search and didn't see anything about this. But does this mean the events of ROC got Duke a promotion or what?

Well, I don't know about a whole, separate SAS team. It's been enough of a struggle to get through this ODA Team. Stalker is already a member.
The Roster is... Claymore Falcon Flint Duke Beach-Head Snake-Eyes Kamakura Stalker Outback Recondo Big Brawler Drop Zone Low-Light I'm just suggesting Big Ben and Skymate as International members of the Team. I'm not trying to include the members of Action Force. Big Ben and Skymate are Joes. |

Sometimes I lose track. I think when I get done there are going to be like 19 members of this Team. It's going to be a big sub-team. The figures look so good, these figures will probably become my default versions of these characters.
1. Magnum 2. Claymore 3. Falcon 4. Flint 5. Duke 6. Roadblock 7. Stalker 8. Beach-Head 9. Snake-Eyes 10. Kamakura 11. Storm Shadow 12. Recondo 13. Outback 14. Big Brawler 15. Drop-Zone 16. Sabertooth 17. Low-Light 18. Big Ben 19. Skymate

So I was wondering, do any you guys put a lot of emphasis on specific skill sets when organizing your squads or fireteams? In other words do you always have a designated radio operator or comm specialist, a medic, an EOD or demo expert or combat engineer, an anti-armor specialist, a door breacher (via explosives, manually or computer aids), marksman or sniper, team leader or assistant team leaders, grenadier, armorer or mechanic, FAC or JTAC or FO, a silent weapons specialist, an interpreter, and a heavy weapons expert or machine gunner? Granted certain environmental insertions and scenarios may require certain training, like HALO and SCUBA, but it would seem that there are still certain fundamental skills that a team needs to be comprised of.
And do you have overlapping skill sets assigned? Should there be a backup radio operator in case the primary one is KIA? Should there be more than one person with language or medical skills in the group? Are there any special skills that most if not all the units in the squad should have, aside from basic combat proficiencies? For instance, it might be a good idea for all members of a four-man recon team to be proficient with communications equipment in case they are separated, and maybe each needs to know a lot more than just first aid, or if the mission requires a very high tech skill, like disabling a piece of enemy hardware, maybe they all need to know how to accomplish this in case only one makes it to the objective. I do try to set up teams based on skills.
I like having my fireteams able to be deployed for a variety of things. I'm in the process now of dividing the Joes into skill areas: JTACs/Controllers/FO, Fast Attack Drivers, Armor, Snipers (this would include the spotters), Infantry, Rangers (I'm using this broadly to cover the actual Joe Rangers and the other guys that are Special Ops: Marines, SEaLs etc..), Communications, SWAT, VBSS, Hazmat, Pilots, Chopper Pilots, EOD, SAWs, MAWs, Mortar, Grenadier, Artillery, Medical, Intelligence, Analyst and a couple mores I try to keep it to those specific functions. I figure all the Joes have been trained in basic combat first aid, basic communication gear operation, etc. So some of the "minor" skillsets I figure all the Joes are trained in and then divide my teams up by major skills. I kind of borrowed Zulu's squad set-up, or will have borrowed once I get it set-up Team Leader Comm Officer 4-Man Fireteam 4-Man Fireteam 4-Man Fireteam 1 of the Fireteams has the SAW, 1 of the Fireteams has the MAW, 1 of the Fireteams has the Grenadier. That's the basic Fireteam, there are other set-ups for different uses.

But I try to keep them the same. But I usually break them down by rank. But if breaking into teams of 20 or less: Every team needs a Comm guy. Then Machine Gunner. Then one guy has to be a medic. |
