What I'd like to know is, who was the idiot in the packaging or in the art department that signed off on the black text on hot pink background for the filecard. The damn thing's virtually unreadable.
I like the idea of him being a lifelong Arashikage student (20 years!), but I've never really liked any of the Ninja Force characters (design-wise or based on how they're characterized in the filecards) outside of Snake-Eyes, Storm-Shadow, and Scarlett. I think I should feel at least some very very minor offense at yet another pop culture appropriation and misrepresentation of Asian martial culture (the non-sensical codenames, the poorly researched weapons), although I don't really. I just think they look and sound stupid. I wouldn't mind any of those if the toys actually looked good or "played" well but they do neither. The costumes are too over the top, and the "action features" got in the way of posing. But filecard-wise, I think he's decent... better than most of the other cringe-worthy Ninja Force filecards (Dojo's was the worst... reading it again, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that he was the inspiration for Chris Farley's Beverly Hills Ninja ). http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...1-tgin-zu.html

Filecard-wise, it's not bad.
Design-wise, HORRIBLE!! He never made a comics appearance. DDP dropped the ball, this was the guy that should have been given the Red Ninjas and not T'jbang.

http://www.yojoe.com/filecard/05/tigerclaw.shtml I use him as the Ninja for Tiger Force (along with Jinx, but she's also an Intel Operative). Shadow Strike was Storm Shadow's apprentice while he was working for Cobra (presumably brainwashed)... it would be an interesting fight between T'Gin-Zu and Shadow Strike. And it would be cool to see Kamakura team up with Tiger Claw. I wonder why DDP never used these other Ninja characters.

Cause DDP sucked
But yeah, that really doesn't make much sense. DDP seemed to go all out in getting more obscure characters into their run, Claymore being the prime example.

Yeah, and they LOVED Ninjas... all that business with Sei Tan and the Red Ninjas. All the Master & Apprentice stuff. All the Snake-Eyes Declassified stuff. They could have done a lot with all the Apprentices... but then Donald Trump would have wanted to make a reality show about "The Ninja Apprentices". Snake-Eyes would have never approved.
If they updated Ninja Force, like 25th Modern Era/ROC Ninja Force and they did these characters like the T'Gin-Zu custom, I would be interested in that. Ninja Force was like Mega Marines... it could have really been something good. Instead, Hasbro made it ridiculous.

I'm looking at you too, D.E.F. Drugs are Bad; we could have taken the problem seriously.
Street Fighter sub-team, you can just go back to the Special Education annex. Try not to drool on the carpet.

That DIC cartoon episode with crack-whore (or is it spark-whore?) Falcon still makes me laugh whenever I see snippets of it on Youtube.

I have to say that the Headman and the Drug terrorists were a great idea. Why did it always have to be Cobra?!!! G.I. Joe is America's Top-Secret, Highly Trained, Anti-Terrorist Special Missions Force. They could have done so much more than just deal with Cobra. There could have been so many factions to deal with. I was always glad that Headman showed up - at last, a new enemy!

Yeah Why DEF? Although the Headhunters were great figures. I use Headhunter as a smuggler and black market dealer for Cobra.
I love Kamakura, but other than him I'd rather forget the rest. That being said I would love to see a Tiger Claw / Kamakura Special Mssion, against Headman. Only to be rescued by T'Gin-Zu. Afterwords he makes them salad with his ginsu knives, cutting cans and then Tomatoes. Yeah I think T'Gin-Zu and all the rest of the Italian-American Joes from New York need to be forgotten. Well except Nunchuk. Why couldn't Ninja Force be more like the Night Creeper? Using modern weapons and Tech and being highly trained Martial Artists. If Quick Kick or Budo makes a return then they can be part of the same team. And any Italian-Americans as well. an Infiltration team of sorts. But some of the names are so bad as are their roles in the Joes. Snow Ninja. First Strike Ninja. |
