I really don't think they've got anyone checking anymore - they admitted already that the TRU -exclusive Bench Press having the same real name as Rock 'N Roll was an error.

Well, They're coming along. He's been pretty busy lately, but we're getting started back up again. The end is almost in sight. I think when we get done, and the whole Team is pictured together... we just might make the Front Page. That's pretty exciting.

Names get trademarked, not copyrighted. The difference is kind of a big one in terms of the protection afforded.

Thanks
I'm a shameless fan of 80's action TV/Movies so I have a few characters floating around in operator roles.. Thomas Magnum is one of my Intel officers TC (code name Island Hopper) is one of the transport chopper pilots Higgins (Major Domo) is the Ops chief (keeps everything running) Rick (Kahuna) is the PX guy by day and barman at the Joe bar at night... Now I have to start some serious customs |

A trademark on the other hand seeks to prevent said original material based on a copyrighted work by protecting a word, design, device or symbol. It does not however prevent someone from creating like original material under a different mark. The best way to explain it, for example is the Siegel/Schuster rights to Superman issue. A court held that the estates of Siegel/Schuster were entitled to get the copyright to Action Comics #1 back. DC still has the trademarks. Fandom was in a tizzy with more than one forum pronouncing that Marvel was gonna make Superman..umm..no. What it meant was that the estate of Siegel/Schuster had the copyright back for Action Comics #1 which means they could publish that work anywhere. They just couldn't use the name Superman, the S symbol, the spit curl, the names of several characters etc. Because DC has the trademarks to all those things. Sure, they could go to Marvel and Marvel could then publish an entirely new character who could run faster than a speeding bullet, leap 1/4 mile etc (actually I believe the faster than a speeding bullet is also trademarked). But what would be the point? They could never call him Superman or Clark or allude to any of his past or supporting players beyond those that appeared in Action # 1 and even then they couldn't use the names. Hope that explains it a bit |

I'm using him as Trent. The movie version of Joe was an International Team - so Trent seems a logical choice for me. He obviously doesn't look a lot like Trent in the comic, but he doesn't look a lot like Flagg either... and Col Trautman HA! That's a good one. I laughed pretty hard when I read that. Is Rambo a part of your Joeverse?

Tell me more about Colonel Banks? Is he a character you invented? How do you use him? Also, I especially appreciate the fact that you're trying to incorporate Col. Hannibal Smith - the A-Team is one of my very favorite shows. Murdock was a comic genius.
I'm totally with you about Colton. I can't wait. I wonder how I can use the different versions of Colton there are 4 - How will I use the blond one in the orange jump suit - maybe Colton undercover? I don't know yet. I figure I'll use the other guys as commanders or NCO's for their perspective teams. To we get a Sailor, Commander, Airforce? what's the other one? I can't find a figure I like to use for Hannibal. Yeah it sounds great! I might do something similar. Quote:

He has the Three Stars on his cap so this guy would have to be Colton's XO really, but who would work? YOJOE.COM | General Abernathy |

Good, I was going to have to fly down to Aussie and beat you if Stringfellow wasn't there.
All those 80s guys and no Stringfellow.. that would have just been wrong... What about the guys from Blue Thunder?
