Counter Intel, Human Intel, Strategic, Operational, Open Source, Imagery, Signals, Measurement and Signature (MASINT which has like 7 sub units), Meterological, financial, medical, tactical and technical... I figure that the joes would just get intel sent to them by other agencies doing the hard stuff and they'd just skim off the top but then they'd need a whole bunch of analysts to interpret some of the seemingly innocuous stuff. Like they'd need financial intel to work through Extensive Enterprises corp structure etc.. Btw, has anyone been reading the IDW comics?. Chuck Dixon seems to be introducing new joes almost every issue. Last issue we got Shareware and Six-Gun. Wonder if he's related to Sgt Six aka Airborne II? |

He was one of the joes in the Sgt Savage cartoon. They never made a figure of him unfortunately. They also didn't leave much room for characterization either. All the Screaming Eagles had Brock Lesnar like physiques and all were experts in particular fields but had disciplinary problems.
I think Grill was the mechanical genius. He managed to refit Savage's plane and jeep. |

In 1982 Cobras, known as the Enemy, were the nameless, faceless Infantry soldiers of Cobra Command. The Cobra Officers, known as the Enemy, had ranks of 0-4 and were front line fighters and Masters of Disguises.
In 1983 the Viper Pilots, known as the Enemy, were introduced. They were the nameless, faceless legions of Cobra Command. In 1984 the Cobra Stinger Drivers, known as the Enemy, were introduced. They were the front line fighter and Masters of Disguises. |

In 1985,the Cobra Organization started to branch out into various groups. The first groups were the Eels,Crimson Guards,Snow Serpents,Tele-Vipers and the Lampreys.
In 1986 the Vipers were introduced. They were the backbone of the Cobra Legions. In 1998 the Cobra Troopers were introduced as beeing the basic bottom of the barrel recruits of the Cobra Legions. The next step up for these troopers would be the Vipers if the survive long enough. The Cobra Officers were no better than the Cobra Troopers, because they really had to rank to speak of. They knew how to keep their fellow troops in some sort of order |

In 1988 the Toxo-Vipers were introduced and no Trooper or Viper wants to be part of the Leaky Suit Brigade. To be assigned to the Toxo-Vipers is seen as a sign of punishment for a major offense.
In 1991 the Desert Scorpions were introduced and no Trooper or Viper wants to be part of this unit. If they get volunteered to be a Desert Scorpion,it is because they refuse to follow orders and won`t get motivated. If they improve over the next year, they can go back to the unit they came from. If not it is down to the Toxo-Vipers. I hope I didn`t get to carried away with posting on this Thread. |

Naw, not at all.
What's weird is that prior to the 25th/ME, there was a clear line of movement thru the Cobra forces. It was obvious that Vipers were the upgrade over the ol' Blueshirt Troopers. They effectively phased out the Blueshirts and replaced with the Vipers. Now the 25th/Me released both the Troopers and Vipers and added to both "ranks" with the Bazooka Trooper and the Para-Viper. Now there's the confusion of how all of it works together. Especially when the Vipers (who are an upgrade over the Troopers) have filecards that say they are the lowest of the low.

Yeah but they continued to use both in the comics didn't they? I mean until like 91 when the Vipers got the purple and Orange suits.
I consider them two different units, (easier for army building) but I think the intention was to replace the blue-shirts. but When they mixed the two you figure some units just never got new uniforms so maybe the Viper is just the Blue shirt with armor on. |

Guys, I got 4 brand new ROC Para-Vipers today from HTS! They are really great. They are going to be my squad leaders for my Para-Vipers. I've got one of those off brand/true heroes Blackhawk helicopters for each squad. Yeah, Cobra's all about the Amphibious Air Assault over here... watch out, DC!
