Well it was a 90 minute long pile for me. My kid liked it though. (but he hasn't seen resolute) Maybe I would have liked this more if I hadn't seen resolute first.
What is Overkill's origin? |

I hear ya. I'm organizing my Joes too and although I'm happy with the operational element, the sheer size needed for the base Pitt HQ staff is friggin' enormous.
In my org, all operational Joes have base jobs when they're not on mission. The operators cycle is Operational > Leave > Base Job > Training / Ready Reserve > Operational The big problem I'm having is that for every base job held by an operator there has to be someone there when that person is operational. For example; When Dusty isn't deployed he's the fridge and air conditioner repair man but what happens when he's off in the Middle east and the ac breaks at the Pitt? do they wait for him to get back or if he gets back? hire a repairman to go to a top secret classified facility? I'm kinda adverse to using greenshirts as well. I like the idea of a city full of Joes like in the new IDW comic. But the city idea means the base and personnel are HUGE This is awsome but you figure you could add a few guys, of your own custom creation. BTW Dart is also a refridgerator repairman. Quote:
The base personnel is the issue keep running into. Makes the team HUGE.
The way I figure it is that say the overall size needs 4 vehicle mechanics. Clutch can double as a mechanic when not on a mission, he wouldn't be the guy in charge of the motor pool that has to be a non-mission guy, but he can be one of the mechanics. Maybe Crankcase is also a mechanic. So if there's 4 mechanics required, with 2 of 'em being mission Joes, then that means that there HAS to be 2-3 non-mission personnel to keep the place running when others are on a mission. Sure, they'll be short handed but there has to be people there to do everything. Then have to get into the mess hall staff, the cleaning/maintenance staff, all the admin/office stuff that is required (finance clerks, file clerks, etc..). Making the PIT a "real" entity is a pain in the butt and kind of boring, lol Quote:
Actually, we do it all the time.
Who do you think cleans CIA HQ? It's not Secret Agents. We outsource that - including the National Clandestine Services (Special Activities Division). Same at Ft. Bragg with Special Operations Command, including Special Forces. Yeah, we do it all the time. Enjoy your Joes; Kill the Terrorists; Leave the cleaning and food prep to the pros, bro. ;) Kill the terrorists Quote:
Then DDP came along and actually made the Overkill character sort of cool. Serpentor came along and found the SAW-viper that killed all the joes and named him Overkill. Well after Cobra Commander killed Serpentor in that 2nd civil war, he captured Overkill and turned Mindbender loose on him and turned him into The Mechanical Man. Sigma 6 not totally sure. I thik he wanted to take over Cobra and then he ended up in the Bacta tank and that's all I know. |

Hahaha,
Brings up a point I've always wondered about. I don't know what it's like on a US base but if a bunch of RAN / RAAF personnel showed up on an Oz Army base, it'd be kinda peculiar unless they were there for training. I always wondered why the Assistants never queried why USN, USAF, USMC and even a USCG guy would be disappearing into a Chaplain's Assistant's Motor Pool building all the time.

You make a good point, but let's look at Hawaii as an example... there are so many bases in proximity to one another that other services are on different bases all the time, and no one thinks anything of it. In a major metropolitan area like NY/NJ - Ft. Wadsworth - it wouldn't be too implausible.
Also, you're probably the ONLY person on the tank qualified to answer this. (In your experience as a chaplain for the 4th Psy Ops). In terms of a joe base, would S6 information operations be both psy ops and computer/information tech ? So would Psyche Out be the staff officer for both? or does computer/info tech fit better with signals? |
