So, I liked the idea of using Recondo as sort of a "make shift" sniper.
I once read a web page where the author was a huge Beach-Head fan. So in his Joeverse, Beach-Head was a sniper and a hand-to-hand specialist. Beach-Head could do it all in this guy's Joeverse. So, here's my question/discussion topic: In your Joeverse, have you ever given a character an ability or a skill that there was no real justification for, just because it was cool? Or, have you given them an unjustified qualification that you think can be reasonably extrapolated? For example, Flint's 8" figure file card has him listed as a Martial Artist on par with Snake-Eyes. It goes on to say that Flint and Snake-Eyes work as partners with the same level of expertise and that they're a complimentary team. This was new information for me, but it gave me an idea... In my Joeverse, Flint is a serious hand-to-hand combatant. He's right up there (almost) with Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow (who are both toned WAY down from the later Marvel Comics). Flint's skills are on par with nearly anyone in the Joeverse. Another case in point: The U.S. Army Rangers have opened a center for Hand-to-hand combat skills. It's serious stuff. So, all my serious Rangers... Beach-Head, Repeater, Recoil, Roadblock, Stalker, Side Track v2, Skydive, Duke, etc. who don't already have hand-to-hand expertise (like Claymore) are also considered to have some expertise in hand-to-hand combat. Do you guys have any body that you've designated with additional expertise? |

I can certainly agree with this notion and always felt the same way. I just wish they would have given him a better looking rifle

Yeah, he should swap rifles with Frostbite, who's too busy driving to use a gun like that.

This discussion of Barrel Roll, reminds me of a discussion that we had earlier in this thread: which sniper on the Joe team is the best?
I think many of us have a tendency to select Low-Light because he was the first Joe (yes, I know Scarlett was a qualified sniper (allegedly - the USMC does NOT train women to be snipers), but it wasn't her specialty). Anyway, one point in the file cards that has been brought out to demonstrate Low-Light's prowess as a sharpshooter is the fact that he doesn't need a spotter. He can do it alone, all by himself. Which is evidently pretty rare for snipers. Now, Cross Hair is the official Sniper for Tiger Force and Night Force. That speaks pretty well for him, but I would assume that he needs a spotter because the file cards don't say otherwise. Hollow Point was an instructor at Quantico, but the Marine Corps train their Scout/Snipers to work in pairs. Therefore, Hollow Point would use a spotter. Barrel Roll, however, gets sent behind the lines by himself. He would not have anyone with him; he doesn't use/need a spotter. If we can take the lack of the need of a spotter as some indication of a higher skill level among snipers, it would appear to me that Low-Light and Barrel Roll may be the best sharpshooters on the Joe Team. What do you guys think? |

Their Security Forces do... that's their equivalent of the M.P.s They're more like Police sharpshooters than field operative snipers.
For what Barrel Roll does, he would have gone to either the Army Sniper Course at Ft. Benning, or the USMC Scout/Sniper Course at Quantico.

Hey oliverbox I was looking over your command structure again and it looks like you left an officer out. How about Major Ghostrider? He should probably replace Ace as XO. Also, why did you choose Hawk as the overall commander when he's only a Brig Gen and Joe Colton is a four star? Is your choice based on personal preference or something from the comics?

Are the BTR figures glued together?
It's not a back screw like the old O-Ring construction? If so, that's disappointing. I only do O-Ring customs - and my abilities are very limited. I've purchased several customs and I've commissioned some to be made. I personally don't paint to figures because if I did they would look like crap. Shakka85, who is a member on Hisstank does fantastic )-Ring customs. I've purchased several from him. He made my desert Claymore for me. |

Flint is a weird one. He's gotta be pushing retirement by the time he hit his stride in the mid 80's. I mean he's a Helicopter pilot and he's a bookworm and he's Special Forces qualified. That guy must've had no social life at all.
What suprises me is that a lot of the Joes in the early sets are e-4 and e-5's with WAY too many qualifications and schools under their belts to stay at such a low rank. I'd imagine that in order to make the joe team you'd probably have to get SF qualified and that pretty much bumps you to e-6 upon completion. |
