I guess I had seen some as a kid as some of my foreign friends had a few, so they held a sort of mystique for me. Particularly Cobra De Aco, and Satan, but later I found there were more so I thought they were cool.
I guess I just like anything new. I love new additions to the Joes. There are really only about 20 unique figures from the Brazil Argentina figures.

I had a few Action Force and Takara GI Joe figures when I was a kid (with the Philippines' relative proximity to Australia and Japan, we would occasionally get the Action Force and Takara figures alongside the regular Hasbro figures in toy shops). The Takara figures were even sold cheaper, since tehy weren't "real" Hasbro GI Joes.
I should have kept them (especially the Takara ones... those apparently are some of the rarer mass-market Joe figures and even the opened ones can fetch upwards of $100 on eBay as long as they come with the card). The nods to the international figures is great, but at over $30 each, they're an easy pass for me. |

I'm not throwing rocks. I ponied up for the SWAT Team last year. That set just struck a cord with me. I bought it as soon as I could. I paid a lot. The thing is, I still see them on ebay, and they are cheaper now that the frenzy is over.
I may try to pick these guys up down the road. They're not bad, but they're not essential for me. So I'll wait. Let us know how the figures are, Loose. I'm excited for you.

I have to have them. Custom paint jobs run close to $30 and they usually chip. I'm just glad they didn't make the fifteen pack with these guys plus 7 Brazilian/Argentinian Cobras with Claymore and name it Mission Brazil! Because I don't think I could cough up the $320

Some of the ridiculous amounts I've paid:
The Starduster from the con set 2 years ago = $85 Rip It from the Con set = $52 Hotwire from last year = $99 Plus I use to buy all the box sets as well. Then they switch to the new articualtion and I have a hard time playing with my O-ring guys. I think guys are starting to unload their O-ring collections to keep up with the new stuff. But the International figure 3 packs = Priceless! If that set with Manleh had someone other than Starduster I might have picked it up. |

I have no emotional connection to 'em like Loose. I just think they look damn cool and want them to use in my Joeverse.
That and I have a thing for exclusives that are cool looking, since most are just "blah". I picked up the SDCC Destro set for $32 (including shipping) off EBay, pretty happy with that one since that's about what it would cost to get from HTS with shipping.

These International figures are Probably the last versions of what passes as a filecard for the forseeable future.
Hey lets make sure the next time there is a Hasbro Q & A lets ask them to do a little more for the filecards. I mean at least birthplaces would be a start. I'd also ask if they could stop making the missle launchers since it may lower the prices of the figures. That crap ain't free to make. |

I don't think the missle launchers have any impact. The other 3-3/4" products (SW, Marvel, X-Men: Origins) are all the same price point and have less accessories.

They have to cost something. You're right, I'm sure Hasbro wants to keep that price point. Maybe they could load them like the Pit Commandos.

Or at least make the missile launchers like:
Sgt. Stones and Breakers, look like good DIO launchers Para-Vipers, looks like a jet they can use Eels, looks like an underwater vehicle that divers use DA Dukes, looks like an old rocket launcher (I remember Arnold using one that looked like it in Commando) Fireflys, looks like a shoulder mounted LAW rocket There's a couple others that aren't all that bad.
