I agree Lifeline should have been a PJ, or a Green Breret medic. I think Airborne II (Six) was portrayed as an 18 Delta, but he also makes sense as a PJ. Officially, there are no Navy corpsmen on the Joe team.

Cryptography would be a code breaker. Map making would come from the intel guys, most likely through sat photos.

Yeah, guessing Troynos meant cartography there. Easy mistake to make.

The Army's Airborne Units include:
the 82nd the 173rd and every Special Operations Unit - Special Forces - Rangers - Psy Ops - Civil Affairs - 160th SOAR the 101st is no longer an Airborne Division. It's an Air Assault Unit, meaning they use helicopters. It's called the 101st Airborne because of it's history in WWII and Vietnam.

But the Joes don't have an official code-breaker either.

Yeah, you're right. I just figured Mainframe would do it. He's really not a comms guy, but he's a computer specialist. Seems like algorithms would work for code breaking.

I can see some of the recon Joes being skilled mapmakers.

The Navy, Air Force, and the Marine Corps have their own equivalents, although the Air Force is probably the leading proponent of modern Information Warfare. As for military cartographers, you can find specialties that focus on mapping in both the Intelligence and the Engineering branches. The Army Corps of Engineers has the Topographic Surveyor specialty (MOS 21S) while the Military Intelligence Corps has the Imagery Analyst specialty (MOS 35G). Again, the Air Force, Navy and the Marine Corps have similar occupational specialties as well. |
