He could serve as a rally point but then the disadvantage would be that the enemy would know where everyone was going, lol. I suppose there might be several environmental types but ST seems like a utility soldier, capable of all-weather insertions. The reflective armor might be universal equipment, or like you said, to reflect his present environment, thus distorting his image.

Does Rapid Fire appear anywhere in the comics? What about the cartoon Revenge of the Pharaohs? What do we know about him other than what's on his filecard?

Super Trooper is waiting back at the forward HQ and then deploys and parachutes in among the Infantry. His job is to take charge, and figure out the best way to handle the situation. He figures out a way to counter attack, or tactically withdraw or whatever with maximum efficiency. He's sort of the guy you call when you need a panic button. That's my theory.

Honestly, I think he's such a good character that he shouldn't be overlooked. He has real potential.

I see him like this - Let's say that the Joe Infantry is fighting in a place like Bosnia or Iraq (a place where there is city mixed with outdoor terrain) and the Joe Infantry is being surrounded, or is beginning to fold and is about to be overrun...

So you see him as a backup officer or replacement leader--someone who comes in to clean up a SNAFU? That could work. When a team loses its leadership and things start to fall apart, ST inserts himself into the mix, rallies the men, and exfils the unit or leads a counter-attack with reinforcements or whatever's available. He's capable of improvising and/or modifying existing tactical plans.

I like that idea of a combat fixer-upper.
Kind of goes back to my first post on the subject, think I wrote it there, in that he's trained to "think on his feet" more then normal. On a mission and lose contact with HQ, he's able to look at the situation and form a new mission plan on the spot. All field leaders for a unit like Joe should be capable of that, but STs are more-so. STs are "on the ground" mission planners. Which, on an individual mission basis, means you can drop them in with an objective, very little to no intel, and let them come up with a way to get the job done. I don't think it's "individualism" so much as "the mission is more important then a single life". Like Duke says "we're not just expendable, we're already expended". The mission is more important then the men on the mission. Normal infantry, not the "tier one", you're on a battlefield with alot of other infantry and the objective is to take the battlefield. That gives you the "freedom" to not live someone behind. A "tier one" mission (rescueing a hostage, stopping a bomb going off) has a more dangerous/bigger (not sure what word I'm looking for) goal then taking a battlefield. If the bomb goes off, innocent lives will be lost, so each of those innocent lives are more important then the soldier. Does that make sense?

Yeah, Troynos, that makes sense. I think we're all on the same page. The question is how do Lattimer, De Niro, and Rapid-Fire fit into the Joe Verse?
Can we all agree that these 3 Joes are all graduates of the Super Trooper program? What about their differences in specialties? How would you implement them into your Joeverse?

Special Operators. Same way place I'd have Snake-Eyes, Kamakura and Mercer.
Not part of an official squad or unit. Where SE, Kamakura and Mercer are used for more "off the book" operations. The STs would be more "on the book" operations but not ones where you can send a group in. Have low intel, and need people that can adapt/think to unknown situations, and respond rapidly. That's what you'd send the STs into.

I think that's a good way to use them. I suppose I just don't want to use two Combat Officers in a limited role. We're already short on Combat Officers.
Could you seem them leading their own special units? Possibly overseen by someone like General Rey - certainly with his "background" he should be able to keep up with the Super Troopers? If Lattimer and De Niro are both Super Troopers, and if we can see the term "Super Trooper" less as a name and more as a qualification, then Lattimer and De Niro will need individual Code Names like Rapid-Fire. What should they be called?
