Yeah, what you're looking at is the "Class B" officer's uniform (general purpose non-combat uniform). My plan is to have all the Vipers (Officers, riflemen, grenadiers, automatic riflemen, designated marksmen) pretty much outfitted the same for combat, the same way that in real military units, soldiers don't dress differently just because they have differing roles within an infantry unit (everybody wears the same ACUs in an Army infantry fireteam, for example, regardless of whether they're riflemen, grenadiers, or SAW gunners). The different Viper "classes" will be identifiable more through the equipment and weapons they carry rather than distinctive & unique coloration or wildly divergent superficial accoutrements. Quote:
There would still be a need for advanced squad and unit integrative training though. An ex-SAS operator would obviously be used to working with a different set of tactical philosophies and terminologies from a former US Army Ranger, so the integrative training's main goal is to bridge and/or accommodate those differences and get them working under a common set of operational principles, whilst also familiarizing them with Cobra's armory (for now, I'm imagining Cobra's MARS division as being similar to Norinco with regards to their product line... making cheaper and sometimes better versions of pre-existing former Eastern Bloc weapons that they've obtained the licences to create copies of). |

Nice job on the officer, Zulu. Reminiscent of a WWII Nazi, also looks like the ROC Destro a bit.

Why would a SAW Viper need to look different? And the Range-Viper? What was up with that look? I can understand the idea, from a toy design standpoint, but in a reality standpoint, just doesn't work.

I was reading the filecards from the 7-packs yesterday and I noticed that the B.A.T.'s card makes a reference to Cobra Troopers AND Cobra Vipers, lending a little bit of credence to the idea that they are, in fact, two different groups.
Just something that caught my eye. |

From a toy standpoint, the Vipers were the replacements for the Troopers. It's just when they did the 25th/ME and had the Troopers at the same time as Vipers that it got confusing.
I still think the idea of using the Vipers as Cobra Special Forces is the way to go.

Good eye. It's pretty much inspired by RoC Destro (one of the better movie-inspired character redesigns, IMO). My plan is to have two different colours for the non-combat uniform: blue for standard employees (such as Viper riflemen) & mid-level management (Viper officers), and black with crimson highlights for senior management (Crimson Guards) and executives (Destro, Baroness).

I got a free Hall of Heroes Firefly in the mail today! I got it by winning a draw on the Articulated Discussion toy review site/blog. Apparently, random post commenters are selected at the end of every month to win an equally random toy (I was unaware of the on-going promotion when I commented on one of the reviews).
And just to prove I'm not blowing smoke up your collective behinds, here's the blog post touting me as the winner: Review Commentator Contest Winner - June As somebody who doesn't even buy lottery tickets, it was a pretty neat surprise. |

That's cool. That's one of the only Hall of Heroes that I wanted. The rest weren't worth the money.
Congrats.
