They'll be external augmentees. "Hired guns" so to speak, that do dirty work that Cobra doesn't want to be linked to (their working relationship with Cobra is kept secret from the public for obvious reasons). The Dreadnoks also exist independently as an organized piracy/smuggling collective secretly based in the Florida Everglades, operating in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, hijacking container ships in international waters (thus making them an occasional concern for the Department of Defense).

That would make a good story.

and it sounds like a greta story. It could be the episode where deep six gets his ear shot off with a P39 .35 caliber but lives to takle out another 5 cobra troopers thus allowing the joe team to infiltrate the cobra base

So am I the only one that's being "forced" to redo my organizational set-up with all these new figures coming.
The desert pack, that's basically 4 new Joes right there.

The problem I'm now having is Zulu's take on Cobra which looks friggin' awesome and is making me think about redoing my Cobraverse..LOL. Nice work Zulu! In my Cobraverse, Cobra is pretty divided; Cobra Commander took over Trucial Abysimia and created the nation of the Sovereign Cobra Nation of Abysimia. The world looks upon them as a rogue state similar to North Korea. Serpentor has become the democratically elected president of Sierra Gordo under the guise of Felipe Anibal Cesar. He has the Coil with him. And Cobra-La exists as the shadow power behind a new fad power cult called Kobrrala (pronounced kinda like Kabbala)... Zulu, your corporate take is very relevant and very well thought out. I look forward to further developments and want to thank you for sharing |

First of all, Zulu, let me say you've done an amazing job. Even new, minor characters like Med Alert are home runs. I like how you gave him and Lifeline very similar yet distinct looks, just like the figures. As to the Cobra project, i think your ideas are making sense. I think that, in a way, you've answered my question about what makes a Joe a Joe with this, because it comes down to morality. The Joes fight for the weak, the oppressed, etc., while Cobra does it b/c they can. As to the Cobra structure, perhaps Dr. Hundtkinder and others could be Cobra's sci-med/pharmaceutical branch, manufacturing placebos and ineffective drugs, and offering plastic surgery to the rich and famous. Incorporates a lot of themes, like the show "Royal Pains", the Joe episode "Glamour Girls", and the kids' movie "Robots", as well as many real-world events. Food for thought, anyway.

The Second edition of "The Ultimate Guide to GI Joe: 1982-1994", by Mark Bellomo (2nd edition just got released) has lots of information, sometimes on how different figures got their real names.

Have we ever made a list of all the Navy guys on the Joe team?
The RoC blue camo looks pretty similar to the new NWU pattern and i was thinking that maybe as my bridge from vintage to modern Joes that i would assemble a ship's company. Here's who i can think of, please fill in the gaps. Thanks.
