Yeah, makes sense. You don't want to be wearing something that screams "We're Americans!!".

Bascially, the new ACU have some good features, but they look like crap. The shirt is ridiculous. Officers don't even get to wear their branch insignias anymore because the collar is a joke. You can't even roll up the sleeves. And they don't even look professional when they're worn. They look like some reject for a hunters uniform.

Yeah, so who would be the 2nd and 3rd shift guys? When Hawk shows up at 3 AM, he's still the man, but there has to be some kind of officer there at all hours in order to make command decisions on the fly. It could take too long to get a call to Hawk and get him awake enough to process all the updated information. Even missing out on an hour or two of mission status reports and intel could lead him to make the wrong decision. So someone has to be there to act like Hawk and to pass along the updates when Hawk shows up.
Flagg Jr and who else? Or would it be Colonel-level people? |

Yeah, but are those guys high enough to make mission make/break command decisions?
You got a 6 man unit ready to storm a building to rescue a hostage. Do you want a captain or a major giving the "go/no go" command?

Lt Colonel or above. Maybe a Major. Captain no.
Although I think most of the Joe Officers are Majors by now. Claymore; Rapid-Fire; STEELER!; Cutter; Grid-Iron; Psyche-Out in particular But how about: Bullet-Proof ROC Duke Storm Sure-Fire Courage Flagg Rey (If you include him) Keel Haul (if your in his neck of the woods which is probably alot) Colton These guys may be in on much of the mission planning too and are Majors or above: Skystriker -Tactician Ace-Intelligence Payload-He's a Colonel he knows what's up |

Payload and Keel-Haul would need Air Force and Navy guys to run things when they're "off duty" as well.
I can see LT-Cols, Cols and some of the other Generals doing those duties.

I plan on finishing the rest of the filecards by this week, and spend the rest of the month collating and formatting the final PDF document. Since this'll be the last week I'll be allowing myself to work on the filecards and the composite images, I figure I might as well do all the revisions and updates along with doing the 6 characters I've yet to make (Charbroil, Skidmark, Updraft, Windmill, Static Line & Altitude).
Clockwise, from top left: Barbecue, Outback, Rock 'n' Roll and Crossfire Design notes: - I know you guys liked the original Barbecue image I made, but I wanted to stick by I said before about trying to incorporate more elements from the original designs. I spent some time looking for headgear that looked more similar to the one the original toy came with. I finally found a reactive welder's helmet (one that automatically darkens the tint of the lens upon exposure to dangerously bright light) that's an almost spitting image. I figure it's somewhat reasonable for a breaching specialist to have one, since a breaching specialist will on occasion have to use a breacher's torch or explosives to open doors. Also changed his filecard and made him a qualified MCSF Battalion CQB Specialist. - Outback was a minor update, just swapped out the original head with a meaner one. - Rock 'n' Roll is an overall new revision. Wasn't happy with the awkward posing of the prior image. Much happier with this one. - I brought in Crossfire to replace Charbroil (who I'm turning into an armament repair NCO, like I did with Blowtorch) as the final piece to the Assault Platoon. Other updates not worthy of representation in this post: updated the colouring on Repeater's composite image as well as his filecard, updated Duke's filecard, updated Roadblock's filecard. To view the full filecards, click on the Filecard Project link in my signature. Last edited by zuludelta; 07-21-2009 at 03:32 AM.. |

Wow these look great Zulu!
Like the update for Rock'n'Roll The Barbecue new look is amazingly similar to his original. (Although I liked your original just as well) But now he's a Marine! Outback does look meaner. Crossfire is a solid image just like the figure is a solid figure. Great Work! 6 more left! |

The new helmet on BBQ just looks too sci-fi-ish now. Looks out of place with the rest of the design. I much prefer the original.
So Hasbro seems to finally be getting it right. The new RoC Deep-Six is listed as a "combat diver". So they put the guy in the wetsuit as the combat diver, finally, and make the SEaL guy (Shipwreck) have land and water gear.

Thanks. Can't wait to finish the lot so I can start on the PDF proper.

To gain entry into any one of the first three, a sailor must be a rated special warfare operator, EOD specialist, or fleet diver. Additionally, to qualify as a (non-Basic) Combatant Swimmer and/or SDV Pilot/Navigator, a sailor must successfully pass Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEAL training. Anyway, all this is just a long-winded way of saying that Deep-Six being listed as a combat diver (i.e., combatant swimmer) doesn't strictly preclude him from being a SEAL in the RoC-verse. |
