Then if you consider all the Computer tech guys those may be the better choices for HQ comm/Situation room:
Mainframe Hi-Tech Hard Drive Sgt. Hacker Firewall but what about the INtelligence people? Scarlett Lady Jaye Quick-Kick Mace Chuckles Faces Jinx Who else? Duke Law SMS: Intelligence Recondo SMS: Intelligence Ace SMS: Intelligence Operations Sure Fire is CID and telecommunications so he might be included somewhere. Later file cards for Duke and Tomahawk say Military Intelligence. |

Also, the one-off GI Joe comic book character Cool Breeze (who debuted, and died, in issue #112 of the Marvel series) actually had a namesake in the 1988 Bronze Bomber line:

Q&A from this round that bears repeating:
Quote:
We have received a tremendous amount of figures from the 1st 5 years of GI Joe. 1986 is the only year we're still missing a sizeable amount of characters from. Any chance of us getting Lowlight, Dialtone(the original male version), Sci-Fi, Zandar, Zarana or any others in the near future?
As we move forward, we will continue to try and find ways to bring classic characters into the new line. Both Dialtone and Lowlight are being considered for future releases in exclusives.

Cool Breeze was shot and killed by Faoud,a rebel leader of the Benzheeni Resistance, who wanted to be President of Benzheeni,by any means necessary. Cool Breeze died saving Stalker after Faoud stole Stalker`s gun. Faoud had had Flint and Lady Jaye as prisoners afterr he captured the G.I.Joe Armored Team. In this issue Snake Eyes,Storm Shadow,Jinx and Scarlett got some pay back on the SAW Viper.

Borrowed my brother's copy of Pablo Hidalgo's GI Joe vs. Cobra: The Essential Guide. The format is somewhat similar to what I want when I collate all the filecards, images, and text pieces I've written & created on-and-off over the past couple of years. Hidalgo's approach is way different from mine, though. He's tried as best as possible to reconcile all the various GI Joe continuities (the Marvel comic book, the DDP comic book, the Sunbow cartoons, and portions of Sigma 6) and combine them into one contiguous timeline. It works with some characters (Duke), and it totally sputters and makes no sense with others (Cobra Commander). Still, it's interesting to see one man's take on a "definitive" GI Joe compendium, and the amount of research it took must have been staggering (although it's clear that he's going for faithfulness to the fictional military of the comics and cartoons, and not real-world military veracity).
Anyway, I'll be updating the filecards a bit to reflect some of the tidbits of info that I wasn't aware of prior to reading the book: Big Lob's official real name, for example... although I found it neat that the name I came up with independently for Big Lob ("Omar B. Sanders") is similar to the one that Hasbro issued for the book ("Clinton Sanders"). What were the chances of that happening? |
