Fellas, I can't find RoC General Hawk or PIT Commando anywhere... and believe me, I've looked. Can anyone help?

Those two seem to be the hardest to come by in my area as well. Your best bet would probably be to buy them on-line or get a 'tanker to sell one or both to you at retail prices (via a buy/sell/trade thread posting). Alternatively, if you've already introduced yourself to the local merchants in your new city, maybe you can convince one of them to put a couple of them aside for you if and when they receive their orders.

Me either, considering you're actually looking in the same places I am. I say on the 10th when Target puts their stuff out, we may see a change. If this weekend Target doesn't do their set up then I'm starting to panic too. The Bailey's and the rt 50 target have only put out 2 vehicles, yet they have a dozen pegs ready. The Bailey's TRU hasn't restocked since the 4th just 3 BBQs left. The worst is my brother lives in Baltimore, about 45 minutes away and his shelves are clogged. Target at least. Have you been down to Kingstowne? Where did you find your stuff so far? |

Reminds me, though - if you guys are still game for a get-together, I'm mostly ambulatory now.

My store's haven't put their stock out yet. I'll see what I can find this weekend when they do (funds are low until I get paid again, so may have to head again after payday and see if still available).
Only getting 3 figures this week (depends on what's available) but the list of what I want (I'm hitting TRU first) is: TRU Firefly (definate) PIT Commando Desert Ambush Duke Shipwreck Deep-Six Hawk Sgt. Stone Para-Viper Elite-Viper 2 spots for 8 figures. :(

I've hit one Target and TRU. No Hawks or Pit Commandos to be found. Target seemed to have a better selection of single figs. Got Shipwreck there this morning and Desert Duke at TRU. Nothing at the localWM

No Desert Duke, PIT Commandor or Hawk at TRU or Target.
Found out that they had been stocked so I made a quick trip over. Got Firefly, Shipwreck, Sgt. Stone and Cobra Commander. Target will be seeing me soon: Reactive Armor Scarlett, Ripcord, Heavy Duty and Duke (wasn't going to get any RA except Scarlett but then saw them there and well..), Heavy Duty, A-Suit Ripcord, Cover Girl, Deep-Six, Paris Pursuit Snake-Eyes (wasn't going to get this one, then saw it in person and...). The Rockslide looks cooler in person. Definately getting the Armored Panther and Snake Trax. Didn't want the Steel Crusher APV but after seeing the reviews, it's on my "must have" list.

Not interested in the vehicles, but I want the drivers of the Steel Crusher and the Armored Panther. :(

Updates for today:
Tripwire & Cross-Country Design notes: - finally have a Tripwire image I'm happy with. The first one looked too static and boring, and I think this one is a much more dynamic pose that makes him look "cool" despite the relatively unspectacular E.O.D. designation. - Had a couple of concerns regarding Cross-Country's design. It dawned on me after going through reference images that the original figure was actually wearing a Confederate Army kepi hat and he's got a what I think is meant to be a Confederate flag belt buckle (it looks like a reversed St. Patrick's cross in the toy, but with the combination of the kepi hat, I think the intent is clear that it's supposed to be a Confederate flag). I know display of the Confederate flag is a controversial issue for some. Many consider the practice of contemporary display of the confederate flag to be an exercise in glorifying the slavery era but just as many also consider it as a legitimate symbol of their Southern US heritage, distinct from the practice of slavery. Personally, I find it no more offensive than, say, somebody displaying the Spanish flag (which, by virtue of where I was born and raised, I associate with the 300 years of subjugation the Spanish empire imposed on the Philippine islands), the Japanese imperial colours (conquered the Philippines in particularly brutal fashion during WWII), and the American flag (it's estimated that the US Army killed anywhere between 200 000 to 1.5 million Filipino civilians during the Philippine-American War -- euphemistically termed in American history books until recently as a "pacification action" -- after having appropriated the country from Spain at the close of the 19th century). I'm not saying that there's any equivalence between any of those three examples and slavery in the Southern US, but it's the closest I have to a relatable experience to that of somebody who might take offense at the display of the Confederate flag, even in something as innocuous as GI Joe fan art. In the end, I went with a more faithful representation of what I think was the original design's intent. I just can't abide by self-censoring the derived composite photographic art when it runs counter to what I'm convinced is the intent of the original toy designer. Anyway, digression aside, to read their full filecards, click on the Filecard Project link in my signature. Last edited by zuludelta; 07-09-2009 at 04:05 PM.. |

I love Cross Country. Is that Tom Brady's face? Great update. I agree with you on keeping the hat and flag. It's not a big deal. For someone to make the association that it's supporting slavery is just wrong and really grasping.
Kind of funny, got into an "arguement" with someone here yesterday about if they make a new Cross Country if they will/can include the hat and flag.
