His VvV figure came with a sniper rifle.
It should be noted that sniper training has not been specifically mentioned in his file card. However, the other qualifications that I have mentioned have all been specifically listed. However, given that Hasbro gave him a sniper rifle, one could reasonably conclude that he has some measure of proficiency with that weapon system.

I wouldn't read too much in to Hasbro giving the VvV Tunnel Rat a sniper rifle. They gave a lot of figures sniper rifles, because that was one of the only few new weapons molds they had during that line. Hasbro wasn't really known for putting appropriate weapons with the figures during the JvC/ST/VvV/DTC era.

TR just seems a natural to have some sniper training. It makes sense. He's tagged as an EOD, but he was always used (in the comic) as recon.
So I think he falls into the category of all-around Joes. For my pararescueman, I'm now thinking of using the comic-pack Beachhead as my base. I'm even thinking of using the unmasked head. My Beachhead will never be unmasked, so this would be a new head for a new character. I think I'll use the CP Beachhead's satchel as well, and maybe a Falcon backpack for the radio?

So, as many of you know I've advocated very strongly for more Marines in G.I. Joe. And as many of you also know, I count that there are only 9 Marines (a somewhat controversial position I understand).
In any case, one of the Marines that we're all certain is a Marine is Hollow Point, who was released as a BTR figure, and we've never heard from him again. He's from Arkansas, so he's a Southerner, and his birthplace of Quitman is a place I've visited. He's also the only official Marine Corps Scout/Sniper on the Joe Team. Not only is he a qualified Scout/Sniper, but he was an instructor at the Range Officer Course at Quantico and served with a Marine Expeditionary Unit. He's pretty awesome. With qualifications like that, his next file card (if they ever make one) should say he's Force Recon. So, here's my point: Claymore is a great figure and I've made three customs of him (Desert, Woodland, Urban). Rapid Fire is a great character, and I'm in the process making a custom figure of him (woodland) - he may take over as the Commander of my Ranger Detachment and let Captain Grid Iron take over the regular Infantry. Hollow Point is such a great character, I think he's worth coming up with a new outfit for him and turning him from a BTR character into a normal ARAH character. What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions? Anybody ever done any work with any BTR figures? |

I've never customized. Thought about doing it for the HISS contest, but was afraid of destroying a perfectly good HISS tank. Don't know if I have the artistic skills to pull it off. I'd like to see your work though. I especially like the idea of doing dios, but I'm so obsessed about detail that I could see it becoming an expensive project.
So I just do it cheap and simple. They aren't the best looking things in the world, but they get the job done. I basically use 'em to set up a scene for display. Also write-up After-Mission Reports, like the team leader would give the CO, describing the mission and what is going on. I got a bunch of ones I want to do. I'm currently working out floor plans and exterior elevations (flat 2d drawing of the exterior look) for a Joe base. Got a smaller base/bunker scene to set up (the bunker is done, just need the interior parts, the computer terminal is proving to be the hard thing to get). Hoping to get the dock scene done this weekend.

mmmmHHHAAAAHAHAHAHAH! What sucks most about that wave of Comics is the throw away figure Deep Six. He has always been the worst figure of all. At least Gung-Ho comes with Armor Cobra Commander who is sort of a different figure. I actually use them as CC Elite personal Guards. ( I have 5 ARAH Battle Armor CCs that I kept winning in lots I bought off ebay) I figure CC hated the armor but it was so effective he bought a few for his most trusted personal Guards. CC really wearing the one Mindbender made him back in the day Issue 150 or so.

1. Hasbro owns the creative rights to Tunnel Rat 2. Hasbro is responsible for the content of the file card 3. Hasbro is responsible for the weapons that come with each character in the package. So it seems, that if Tunnel Rat is issued a sniper rifle, it's being issued by the same authority that is responsible for the content of the file card. That's how I see it, anyway.

I have my Hollow Point sitting there to switch out the arms and legs maybe the whole thing. The problem is the glue. I'm reluctant to put him in boiling water. The Comic 3 pack or the convention Rock 'n' Roll head looks like it would work. The Comic pack Rock'n'Roll coming up looks like he may work on his own, with the camo and the Gloves.
It's not a back screw like the old O-Ring construction? If so, that's disappointing. I only do O-Ring customs - and my abilities are very limited. I've purchased several customs and I've commissioned some to be made. I personally don't paint to figures because if I did they would look like crap. Shakka85, who is a member on Hisstank does fantastic )-Ring customs. I've purchased several from him. He made my desert Claymore for me.
