TR man i cant wait to get TR. does not make since to have any gun with a bi-pod to me since he is an EOD and crawls through dark, damp spaces, i think he should have like a machete, and a suppressed 9mm, some tape, an eagle feather, toothpicks, and should come packaged with McGuyver, no?

His v1 figure came with a heavy machine gun. His VvV figure came with a sniper rifle. Here's my take on Tunnel Rat - He's whatever you need him to be. He's one of those rare Joes like Flint, Stalker, Beach-Head or Claymore who can probably do it all. He's a little guy, but that just makes him good and getting into small places. If he needs to take a large gun with him, he'll take it. If he needs to crawl through a small space to get into position to snipe a target, he'll do it. If I were putting together an special team of Joes that needs to get the mission accomplished, Tunnel Rat's on that team - that's why he's on Night Force. Tunnel Rat can pretty much do it all. It should be noted that sniper training has not been specifically mentioned in his file card. However, the other qualifications that I have mentioned have all been specifically listed. However, given that Hasbro gave him a sniper rifle, one could reasonably conclude that he has some measure of proficiency with that weapon system.

Oliverbox, I'm glad you mentioned the marine uniforms a few pages back. Although I've always liked the Navy whites, the marine uniforms are the sharpest of all the branches. I'm always impressed when I see one and this is why I think Gung-Ho v2 is my favorite version.
I've always wondered if that wasn't done on purpose. The Marines get the crappiest of everything else - duty assignments, equipment, housing, food, etc. - maybe they need the uniforms to be the best and look the sharpest... otherwise, who would want to join? There is something about that USMC Dress Blue uniform. It's pretty awesome.

I found out an interesting fact about the Marine Corps. Marine NCO's are the only NCO's that are authorized to carry swords while in their dress blue uniforms. That's pretty awesome. I wonder if anybody ever joined the Marines thinking, "I can't wait to get a sword!"

So, as many of you know I've advocated very strongly for more Marines in G.I. Joe. And as many of you also know, I count that there are only 9 Marines (a somewhat controversial position I understand).
In any case, one of the Marines that we're all certain is a Marine is Hollow Point, who was released as a BTR figure, and we've never heard from him again. He's from Arkansas, so he's a Southerner, and his birthplace of Quitman is a place I've visited. He's also the only official Marine Corps Scout/Sniper on the Joe Team. Not only is he a qualified Scout/Sniper, but he was an instructor at the Range Officer Course at Quantico and served with a Marine Expeditionary Unit. He's pretty awesome. With qualifications like that, his next file card (if they ever make one) should say he's Force Recon. So, here's my point: Claymore is a great figure and I've made three customs of him (Desert, Woodland, Urban). Rapid Fire is a great character, and I'm in the process making a custom figure of him (woodland) - he may take over as the Commander of my Ranger Detachment and let Captain Grid Iron take over the regular Infantry. Hollow Point is such a great character, I think he's worth coming up with a new outfit for him and turning him from a BTR character into a normal ARAH character. What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions? Anybody ever done any work with any BTR figures?

Definately need to make a custom Hollow Point. Could start with the 25th Rock 'n Roll (using the head). That would make a good start for Hollow Point.
Tunnel Rat is like what Oliver said, whatever you need him to be. I never liked that he came with that huge ass gun, but it is part of his visual character. But he fits where he needs to. Yeah, I'm hitting up ebay and getting some of the older Joes that I want. It's kind of funny but I think I have more Modern Era now then I ever did the vintage. That's kind of sad in a way... I'll probably work up two things: 1 as if I had 'em all, and one based on what I do have, and probably need a 3rd of just the modern era since my vintage guys are packed away and will stay that way for the most part. I really need to get started on my customizing. Got a dio I need to finish up as well. Night Force Scarlett Need to figure out what to use as the base for my pararescue as well. Then need to work out the design for the Force Recon, new communications officer and the combatant craft crewmen (as well as find a boat for him).

If you're going to customize some Force Recon guys, I don't know of any 25th legs that are better to use than Beach-Heads. Obviously you'll want to paint them, but the style is great. His vest is pretty great too. The improved Duke's arms are great. Sleeves like that, sort of rolled up, are exactly what a lot of special operators do in the field. Nobody rolls up their sleeves in the field. I'm working on some ideas for Hollow Point... I'm an ARAH man, myself. None of this 25th business for me. I'm going to try and keep/use his head (for the sake of continuity) and maybe even his torso. I've got some pants (waist/legs) from Big Brawler v1, that are a pretty good camo version of Outback's pants. Maybe some Tunnel Rat v1 arms, but we'll see. Something with sleeves would be good for a sniper. Recoils arms would be great, but I would need to repaint them, or get someone to repaint them. Any suggestions, gentlemen?

I've never made custom figures before, so going to try to keep it pretty simple.
Using Airborne's helmet and leg harness for the Pararescue. I was thinking of the Bazooka Trooper's webgear. Maybe I'll use Beachheads. Was thinking of Tiger Force Flint for the body. Sleeves are rolled up but I can live with that. Head, not sure about.
